Biturbo Intercooler Upgrade
I have been under the impression, as have others
, that the engine cooling system and the intercooler system are connected like on the 55K motor. Well after going over diagrams and making myself nuts, it isnt, but it isnt without its own faults. First and foremost is the stock intercooler pump which is has the same problems as the others, the stock pump has been replaced with a Johnson C30 and wired to run all the time. The stock intercooler system is a sealed and pressurized unit with small coolant capacity of about a gallon. I bought a 5 gallon plastic fuel cell along with Aeroquip lines and fittings. The system is tapped at the outlet of the front mount heat exchanger and runs to the reservoir in the trunk then back to the intercoolers. I have the ability to add ice at the track to further lower IAT's, I will do some datalogging this weekend when the weather is warmer to see how it reacts. Thanks again to everyone who helped out with this!!J
