I took delivery this weekend - Wow!

I took delivery of my 03 CL 55 Silver/Ash Sunday morning. It has all the options except Distronic and Phone. It arrived on the ship Saturday and my dealer was able to negotiate a Sunday pickup at the port. He picked me up at my house and we literally unwrapped it at the dock. Now that's service! I got to "play" with if for the rest of the Memorail Day weekend. No pictures I have seen really do justice to this car. It has a real presence that is not communicated in the photos. Neeless to say I am thrilled!

I sold my 2001 911 TT a few months ago when I placed my order, so I am familiar with driving a performace car. The car handles better than I expected, and as others have said, it feels much lighter then a 4,255 lb vehicle. Still getting used to the Fingertip shifters. I can't wait to get past the break-in period. Pictures to follow.

Your are correct. Nav does not work in Alaska. I have heard rumours that it will be operational by year end.

My hearty congratulations, and lots of luck on your car, they are absolutely fabulous!
Wait until you get over 100o miles or so, mine seemed to really loosen up!

Congratulations on your new CL55! Way different from the 996 TT, but an amazing car nonetheless. It does feel a light lighter than 4255 lbs. Probably because of the incredible torque and the ABC setup. It won't take long to get over 1000 miles. The engine loosens up noticably after that.

Congrats!! Did you buy or lease? How much was everything out the door? Any plans for mods in the future?

I leased mine for 39 months. After a $15,000 down payment, my monthly lease payment is $1,546.04. I paid MSRP ($120,315). My dealer just installed The Escort Passport SRX radar detector. I have no other mods planned at this time.

How do you like the Passport SRX? Around Boston no dealers or shops that I can find install it. K-40 is the prominent one, but I believe that the Passport SRX is better. BRW, how much did the delaer charge for the SRX? I have held off on a remote laser diffuser/rader detector until I can learn more about the SRX. Thanks.

Go to this web site and you can search by state for a dealer that is authorized to install the SRX:

http://www.escortradar.com/srx.htm

I had one in my 996 TT for almost a year and never got a ticket

The SRX jams laser, but not radar. I have been told that jamming radar is a federal offense, but jamming laser is legal. In Anchorage, the motorcycle cops use laser guns. They do not get a reading off my car! The SRX tells you when you are in jamming mode.

The problem we have out side the city is that the State Troopers use "instant on" radar. They wait until you get close and switch their radar on. No time to respond! That's why I always obey the speed limits

By the way, the installed price for my SRX was $1,499.

Thanks. In Massachusetts they tend to use laser and radar. Instant on radar is only a problem if one is the only car on the road. As long as there are cars in front of you, you get a warning. I am aware of the laws regarding jamming and that it is legal to diffuse laser signals. I am less clear about the aiming points for laser. If, as in Mass., front license plates are required, the officer usually targets it and the diffuser device is close enough to the plate to be effective. However, if the headlamps are targeted, how efective will the diffuser be? One solution is to position diffusers closer to the headlamps in the grill.

Forgot to ask, but where did you have the display/controller for the Passport SRX mounted? I was thinking of mounting it where the ashtray is, which would mean that I would need to drive with the tray cover open and probably remove the ashtray. One advantage of a remote system is sealth, which would be defeated by a clearly visible display unit. Its dimensions work for the astray installation, although it is a bit more creatyive location than probably is usual.

My display is mounted centered on the flat surface in front of my speedometer display. It slightly covers my odometer reading when I have that setting displayed. Radar detectors are legal here, so I do not need to hide mine. My front diffusers are mounted at the outer edge of the center mesh screen. Theoretically, this location will cause the diffusers to function for both license plate and headlight laser hits. I know someone in law enforcement here, so I hope to "test" this soon.

Thanks mantyler. Radar detectors are legal in Mass. as well, but as a practical matter, it is wise to conceal their use.
