Maybach headrest in a W215
Since many MB parts are interchangeable on 00s models, I want to take on another chic custom mod. I already found out that an SLR lift cap shift knob works perfectly with the W215s, I was wondering if I could put a Maybach headrest onto our seats
The front seats are basically the exact same seats (as wheel as steering wheel, speedometer, shift knob, pedals, light switch, door pins etc... With the MB star replaced with the triple M) but the Maybach's have a much nicer design to theirs (they should seeing as the car is 3X+ the amount lol). I've always loved the way our headrests are shaped, kind of a snazzy, modern skyscraper type office chair. The Maybach's though are even cooler!
I'm gonna be doing an interior overhaul starting this week. It's going to include replacing my headliner, pillars and visors with black/charcoal leather instead of the usual fabric/Alcanatara and ALL the trim in red carbon fiber. New steering wheel, I got the JL sub, now need the JL speakers with Amp. A custom 'Casino Royale' DBS glovebox mod to hold my Walther PPK
AMG door pins (that I still never installed), integrated night vision and maybe possibly piping going around the seats. I always thought that was a sporty classy look
I'm gonna be calling tomorrow to find out the price of the headrests. I'm gonna have to get the VIN# off of a Maybach with Charcoal colored leather.
It should work...
Yes, I know this mod is probably useless to most but it's where my head rests while I drive. It's in a way like a really great, luxurious pillow. I do a lot of thinking while I'm cruising, I'd rather rest my thoughts and mind on something a with a little more.
I'll keep posted if anyone's interested, however it'll be another thing I'd personally love to find out whether it can be done

The cool thing about the FLIR system is that it can be used at night without any headlights on, whereas the factory MB NV system requires the headlights to be on.
Thanks bro. I'm like that and loving having a vision and putting it in our world known as reality. I like little niche things and touches to make a car more unique, yet fit effortlessly like it should be OEM and like it could of came from the factory
It's cool knowing you're not going to see another one with your ideas on a rare car.
BTW, good job racing the BMW and making the AMG CL community proud
Thanks Sako. Most would think its useless or would never notice, but it's all in the details.
I'll keep you guys posted seeing as there's some interest, I thought it was never done on our cars, but it never hurt to wonder

I don't have much experience with the FLIR but I was highly contemplating getting it for my R. The only issue is I don't want to add it to the factory command because it's not at the line of sight for the driver so I was thinking about finding some space to add another monitor to the dash. So we'll see.
BTW do check out my "build" thread as I'd love some input!

Any recommended shops for alcantara headliner work? I was quoted $4,500 but that's just way too much.

Holy ****!
I called a few MB dealers to get the part. Unfortunately most dealerships don't deal with Maybach parts anymore. Anyhow I found a dealer that does and gave the Parts Associate the VIN# off of a Maybach with charcoal interior.
Ready for this?
Just one (1) headrest alone came to $1,606.38 + tax.
Damn! If it was like $500-$600 per side I would've done it, but over $3,200! That's a little much lol

If someone had a 7 Series that they truly love, had a vision for it, is completely custom on nearly every inch, put so much time and money into it, made them utterly happy every time they step inside and the 7 Series had the exact same seats as the RR Phantom and wanted to make it that much nicer, why not IDK, maybe I'm weird, I like detail

Some people don't see the point but I see your vision. As long as you're not slapping Maybach badges on the car, why the hell not?

Nearly every part of the exterior has been either altered or put a twist on, down to the door handles, door handle cups and A pillars being done carbon fiber. Only thing really unmodified is my rear fenders (they do have the Euro spec OEM arch pieces on there tho done in carbon as well). I need a rear widebody and the Euroteck side skirt attachments to complete the outside in my eyes. Nothing is to disappoint, everything is done so tightly to make it seem like a skunk worked AMG, stealth fighter CL. It's not for everybody, but the attention I get is astonishing.
Here's my rear trunk badge and what everyone sees when I pass them. You KNOW its a Mercedes-Benz, even at night. People like to keep their distance
As to when I post pics, there's no rush to me. I'd like to present a finished vision, not one in R&D
It's not really if, it's when.

I didn't completely put it off. If I can get the best of something or improve upon something, my mind doesn't like to settle. It's just put it onto the side for now lol

The car isn't finished for me to post pics. When it is, you'll see a thread on this section labeled 'CL55 Photoshoot' or something like that. So far everything I did post about my car (custom hood, vented front bumper, Prior fenders, rear badge, square 63 exhaust tips, hood badge, SLR shift knob etc..) I dont really think people have on their CL. I don't want to spoil it with an unfinished pic

Well, I'll be happy to report that I reached all the way down in my wallet and ordered the Maybach headrests! Yes, I'm crazy, I just spent including tax around $3,440.00 for headrests lol
They'll be here August 10th.

I guess you can say that lol. I'm crazy about the CL. I wouldn't have it any other way... Realistically speaking, I can actually say that I have both Maybach and SLR McLaren OEM parts in my CL AMG. . It should give a nice touch of class with these new headrests. I have so many mods on the way for my interior:
-Crimson red carbon fiber to replace all the wood trim
-Black carbon fiber to replace all the plastic air vents/plastic on the speedometer
-Custom DCTMS flat bottom steering wheel (you will like this one)
-Headliner/pillars/visors all covered in Charcoal leather
-Louis Vuitton leather grasp handles
-Black carbon fiber rear view mirror
-Red seatbelt material to replace the black seatbelts
-Black carbon fiber center console armrest (just literally purchased it)
-Nightvision
-Brand new style AMG seat badges for the front and rear seats (new style on the 2013 SL63)
-Red LED door courtesy lights
I'm a sucker for detail. I just got every single audio piece switched to JL (tweeters, speakers, sub, amps.). So I had to take off the Bose and put what I have
Anyway, all that is just the stuff on the way/getting done. Should look really great and tie smoothly and have a striking appearance. Now if I can only find someone to remove ALL the stitching on the dash, door panels etc... and re-do it all in red stitching
Can't wait for the headrests Who knows, I may inspire to want another CL owner put Maybach headrests in their CL
