Preventive Maintenance

Hi all

I am the proud owner of a CL65. I wish to obtain a very PRECISE advice of what preventive maintenance items should be addressed at what interval to keep maintain longevity of this car (Aside from frequent oil change -- and topping up )

Thank you.

Wow such a beaut; i have an m157 CL 63 2011, and was told atleast every 3 to 4 years abc fluid swap wouldn't hurt; and biggest thing, apparently, is not to have the car sitting for soo long as over time it can dry out the ABC lines. This is what i have been told, and does make sense to me. Hope this helps. Enjoy the screaming 12

Changing the ABC fluid is not a bad idea especially if the CL is not driven regularly. My 2008 CL63 has 35k miles and I never let it sit too long just to avoid sedentary issues like ABC line & pump failure.

I thought I'd share this... (from Brian @ FCP Euro)

I would recommend fluid changes and flushes as needed, including servicing the transmission filter and fluid and we offer kits for this.

The belt and rollers should be looked at https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/mer...ntitech-517605

You should also check the filters:

Any recommended brand for ABC fluid? Pentosin too?

Pentosin is good, doubly so since you can just buy it at a parts store... Opinion varies on intervals, but I've decided to change mine every 40k miles. ABC fluid is hygroscopic, much like brake fluid. If your car tends to wander over bumps while you're turning, consider changing lower control arms (or just bushings).

Engine mounts are fluid filled and fail relatively often, which then exposes oil lines and ABC lines to excess movement from the engine moving more than intended, leading to accelerated wear/destroyed lines.

I had a 2003 CL55...just flushed the abc fluid every amd then. That car never sent me or itself to the shop. Only at 80k did the ABC pump give out. Now i have a CL63 and i feel like ive already rebuilt the car. And i misssss my CL55. I enjoyed driving it way more than the 63.

Hey Guy's. It does not matter what ABC oil you choose, Pentosin, Febi, Swag, Mannol etc. as long as the oil has the MB approval code 345.0. This is the only suitable oil for the ABC systems.

If anyone wants to know all about preventative maintenance they should definitely read Howard's legendary thread here:
