Installing Bluetooth in 04

Hey guys,

I bought the puck with a tail (part number ended in 5855). I believe the installation is very easy, I just want a direction so I can do it. Any ideas?

I thought I saw a thread on here somewhere with pictures (could've been in the W220 forum too) - but I can't seem to find it .

First things first, don't listen to the dealer, because mine tried to get me to install $1200 dollars worth of garbage.

The install takes less than 10 minutes. (I just did mine 3 weeks ago and it was a chore to find this information)

Steps:

* Open up the top and bottom portion of your center consoles armrest.

* In between the 'bottom' of the top console and the 'top' of the bottom console is where the pig tail will plug in.

* There is a small circuit board between the center piece that has the correct connection.

* Using a screwdriver removed the 2-4 screws that are viewable from the 'bottom' console.

* Once you remove the screws the floor/bottom of the 'top' console comes out.

* you will plug the pig tail in, and make a small notch so the pig tail can come out and rest in the 'top' console compartment.

* Reinsert your screws

* pair the bluetooth as instructed and Voila, you're making calls.

One suggestion, go ahead and have your address book in order, because as soon as it pairs it will update all your contacts (up to 500) in to the COMAND unit.

If you ahve problems PM me and i will give you my number and walk you through.

To complete the post, the part number is B67875855 and it only works on the '04. I am thinking of ordering but I noticed it is a Motorola product - will it pair up with any bluetooth? Specifically, I'm on iPhone but it would be nice if it worked with all.

I purchased B67875855 bluetooth dongle from MB dealer ( $300 )
and installed it on my 2004 CL500

Took apart middle console to get under inner fake floor where all connections are.

Hooked up the dongle – paired my sony-P1I ( tmobile) and it works.
My phonebook uploaded partially --- other then that it works fine.

That's exactly how mine worked in the 2004 CL55. A lot better than having to buy all the other stuff the dealership didn't know about. I do have just the slightest touch of feedback in mine, I thought about double-checking to see if I have a loose or frayed wire. The partial address book is because it only stores 500 addresses, and apparently if you have 3-4 numbers for someone that would count as 3-4 seperate addresses. so I have roughtly 1200 addresses in my contacts, so thats an untold number of actual phone numbers. kind of sucks, but oh well.

I have a similar looking pigtail on my 05, after I took out the V60 cradle it was left? Is that PN 2004 specific? Can this be done on the 05?

nope this part only applies to 2003/4 vehicles. You would need the regular bluetooth module 6-7-87-5878 or the newer version 6-7-87-6131

You just remove the v60 cradle and replace it with the bluetooth cradle. The only thing that has changed is that the 6-7-87-5878 has been depleted of it's stock and the 6-7-87-6131 is now available to be purchased at a dealer level. So get the 6131 if you can last I checked inventory was critical of the new ones as well our distributor only had 16 and would only release 5 to me.

My module will not power up

I have followed these steps which was quite easy, thanks a lot. My problem is that after I jacked in the module and turned the switch on the LED indicator will not come on to indicate it is getting power hence I cannot pair anything. I know the wire harness was once active since I had to un jack the nokia cradle that once worked. I have disconnected the craddle and connected the bluetooth module and it doesnt seem to work. I ordered the module brand new from the German factory.

Any suggestions...I am so excited for this to work but its a dragging project right now.

Thanks.

I realize this forum is for the CL Class, but I wanted to know if this will work in a 2004 C240? I just bought one and when I open the bottom console I see the wires going into the top portion and when I open the phone compartment portion, I see a plug port that looks like an ethernet plug. So I have a different connection than what's shown in the pictures.

What would I need to get to hook up bluetooth?

Thanks.

Manyou guys are great! I just purchased a 2000, CL500, with 57,007 miles and it has a factory installed StarTAC cell phone in the center console. Following your instructions on the site, i was able to remove it. Now I have to try to find a bluetooth unit that will work on a 2000. The cable that connected the phone has a phone jack and antenna connection. Any suggestions????

Ok, just did it. Not 10 minutes for a couple of reasons. First my eyes are old. Those "screws" in the bottom of the console tray are star shaped, and very small. That took a while to match up. Then the thing just didn't want to plug in without unclipping it from the pan. Don't know why, but that was a little frustrating too. (My garage was about 110 degrees and it was dark. I don't recommend those conditions. Then when bluetoothing it up the blue light on the dongle starts blinking faster (just to make you panic) and the Droid2 wanted a code and "recommended" 0000 or 1234. Old eyes again, but that didn't work either. On the bottom of the dongel there is a code. 6 digits. Unique. So you have to make your phone "recognizable" in the bluetooth settings, and then it paired. Go to the phone menu in the Comand system and on the bottom bar it said "downloading" (took a while to notice that too). And I'm a total Son of a ***** if it didn't download all my contacts. I just laid my phone down, and used the Comand system to make a call. Stereo fades out, call is made. Hands free. I can't frick'n believe it. Thanks. I need a shower now.

Good job, and thanks for the write up.
I tried to fit the B67876131 at the dealer the other day, which is supposed to clip in to the cradle cable, rather than connecting it in the hidden compartment. It didn't fit though.
So I need to find another option for the 2005, are we sure the B67875855 doesn't work?

The Viseeo MB2 will work for sure (and frankly better than the mB branded units). I have the same car and it works perfect with ALL phones.

To clarify further, I installed the B67875855 bluetooth dongle from ebay which was a califorina MB dealer ( $280 plus shipping so $303 or some such).

I'm new to the blue tooth thing (tried the earpieces a while back and hated it) so I just discovered with this dongle (love that word) that once you pair it up, and leave your Bluetooth "button" active on your phone, when you go to the car and get in, it automatically starts up and connects without you doing anything. So I just put the phone in the door pocket and forget about it. And while I'm in the car, calls will come through the Comand system. Then I leave the car with my phone and it works like normal. I'm telling you, it's like magic.

Thanks. I was just looking at your site, It seems my car doesn't have UHI, its fitted with a cradle for a Nokia (similar size phone to the 6210), as I dug out an old one which fits the cradle, but the connections are different - probably due to me having a jap spec W215. Do you think the connector cable could be replaced to allow an MBU-1000 to fit?

MAKE SURE, that there is not a release button (small plastic part) on the top or hidden under the side of the unit. I have seen a lot of the few (only 762 made over 2005-2007!) of the CL65. ALL of them had the UHI system. It would be very unusual to have anything else. And it was normal to have a Nokia or Motorola cradle hooked to the UHI

This is what I am dealing with... can't see a way to remove it form the top side, so ill have to investigate further. I was unable to get a clear pic of the phone connector but you can probably see that its not a Nokia one.

That is a VERY rare unit. We do not see them at all in the US, but we have some techs in europe that see it. It is a very low production hybrid system that is NOT UHI. The best option for you would be the iTronic or mObridge. (least expensive anyway and frankly works better than the UHI)
