HELP CL63 OR CL65
HI MB WORLD
so i need your help im in a bit of a pickle. Right now i am in the market for a CL63 and CL65.
I am also located in canada so the price of US cars is very different then CAN.
I found myself a used CL65 loaded for 150,000 blk on blk. But the dilemma is that i wanted a WHITE CL.Theres a brand new CL63 in white on black with AMG PACKAGE AND PREMIUM PACKAGE tag is 150,000.

Just got the 65
I was just in the same situation. I ended up with an 08 cl65 w/2700 miles, cpo, for $126k+ dealer garbage fees. I previously had the cls63. I really missed the turbo from my porsches. I then went to a flying spur for 2 years and promised myself that I must continue to have a turbo/super-charged car. So far I am happy. The car is a monster. I'm not bashing on the 63 motor. It sounds awesome and pulls hard but the 65's turbos and 740lbs of torque is very nice IMO. Its quick to 60 but the fun is how fast 120 comes up.

Over 570hp ,660lbs torque and an engine that weighs half of what the 65 has over the front wheels.
Similar performance with predictably superior handling, don't buy the current one....

Haven't seen any info on that and I really doubt it The 7 speed tranny cannot handle the torque of the 65 and benz wouldn't shot themselves in the foot by making a less expensive car with more performance. It will not be a a 2011 model so a few months is doubtful at best.

Standard version of the new 5.5 V8TT has 590lbs/ft,optional performance package boosts it to 660lbs/ft.
....and yes,7speed tranny can obviously handle it.

Agree, would wait for the new, latest-tech MY11 63/65s arriving in Fall
Trade-offs and unknowns
New 63 has unknown turbo lag, unknown MCT reliability/smoothness esp vs high-tq motor (AMG struggled w/MCT reliability even vs tq-free SL63), tq deficit vs epic 65 tq, prob plastic interior, prob high MSRP w/030 option (not very different price vs 65)
65 is far more proven, refined motor/gearbox and easily world's leading commuter missle (and even in mtn twisties I appreciate 65's superior tq vs lighter nose of tq-free, ancient CL63 030)...can easily adjust driving style vs heavier nose of 65 vs 63 in twisties driving (and most of relevant world outside of CA lacks twisties anyway even on wkends, let alone in daily commute)...and impeccable high-speed tq/stability/reliability of 65 are unlikely to be threatened by MY11 63, no matter its paper stats

wow thanks for all the post's its been a great help.
If i can get the deal on the CL65 I will be taking that deal. As for the 5.5 thats coming out I will just have to see how they are when their out. maybe i will sell the 65 when it comes out.

Just for a change
I liked the spur a ton but had it for 2 years and wanted something new. Bentley is a great car to just to get in and go fast. I missed all of the electronics the mercs offer (nightview, distronic, dynamic seats and more speed). I miss the traction I got from the AWD spur however once i hook up, the 65 is unbelievable. I also felt like the cl65 cabin was more quite and composed at high speed. Before the spur, I had a cls63 030. That car was obviously fast but it felt slow to me. From then on, I decided that turbos are what I like most. After the bentley, I wanted another turbo 12 and options were limited. I was considering the bmw760 however I like to to by CPO cars and felt that BMW wasn't as unique.

I doubt with the way to economy is and the competition between the big german three that there will be a faulty or unreliable DCT put in the new 63TT engine vehicles. Mercedes has most likely been testing the transmission and new engine for quite some time.

The 2011 CL63 is a lovely car, certainly something to wait for, especially when the numbers come out to play. When is the next generation CL supposed to be out 2014?

The official pricing is not out on '11 CL63 but I've been to a few dealers and will go with best offer once pricing details are out.. In meantime I'll be working double time to pay for it...

The CL65 is a tad faster, but old fashioned. I had a CL65 and was never
impressed, I now have a SL63. The gearbox and the whole car fells much more high tech, and the 65 is being faded out this year.

ummmmm 65
NO more 65's after this year...I myself ....as the biggest fan of the 65's having owned over 15 of them now...
GO FOR THE 65...anything less is a joke...the 63 is for common folk......but wait there's more......dont be a fool and drop $150k on a car that will be less then $80k next year...
I personally drive and love the 2005-2006 CL's........had a 2008 CL65 and a 2007-2008 S65....just didnt see spending $1000 more a month on the SAME car....
Guess what? Nobody is looking anyway...I cant be conviced to spend $125k on a car that has the same identical drivetrain as a $45k car...
Looks? the old and new CL is a stunning car...serves the same purpose..fast with luxury...and not one person will truly know the $100k difference in the 2...
Infact I bet the old CL will be a cult classic in terms of the pillarless coupe...
JUST my opinion........
