S63 vs CL63
Has anyone owned both or have driven both?
I'm having a hard time picking one over the other!
Which one is the overall better car?

They are basically the same car one is a coupe the other is a 4 door.
The S class is suppose to be a bit longer in the back seat and more comfortable if you have a couple of passengers with you.

I think the Flying Spur is 1000 times better looking than the Bentley GT. But of course like you said the GT must be better looking because it is 2 doors.
I guess when I decide to get another 4 door car I will be always be known for driving a boring car.

god sure glad you're a member with your illuminating views...
Stealthy cars like fast wagons, sedans and suv's can be some of the most fun drives in their own way... but those who aren't true enthusiasts will never understand this as they just want the bling...

I once knew a guy who had a 4 door M3.. It looked not so nice when compared to a same year M3 coupe IMHO again

S63, G55
I don't think so.
IMO, the S63 looks better than the CL63 with that bland Toyota Solara rear end.
The S63 also has more presence on the road.
I personally don't see the point of the CL, and it seems like most agree... which is why the CL is the 2nd lowest selling MB model to date.

Maybe if you guys were right about 4 doors being cool we'd see 911 4 doors and vette 4 doors and Veyron 4 doors (I can go on forever as you can see) I'm relentless

actually I guessed cl 63 is low selling because most people can't afford a second car for $150K... That's why it's more of a sports car (ie special car) than the S63 which can haul groceries, car seats, back-seat drivers etc, etc, etc...

The Veyron isn't a mass produced car, it's a unique 2 million dollar car.
If 4 doors are so boring why did Porsche and Aston Martin just create one?

I think in many ways the CL more competes with the SL for the inherently limited 2 door Mercedes market. Notwithstanding the convertible aspect of the SL, both cars are basically 2 seater sports cars with limited room in the rear, but slightly more accommodating for larger/older buyers in the CL (present company included). I always wanted a CL, finally got it, and am now awaiting delivery of an S63. I like big, fast, 4-door sedans that "have presence". And btw, isn't that 4 door 911 now being marketed as a Panamera ?
Is the CL63 stealthy? I dislike flash and love stealth .

cls 55 amg
Of course its a matter of personal taste/opinion but heres mine : The CL 63 (or even the 550) looks beautiful in real life. However, despite its beauty and presence it doesnt make sense. its too long and heavy for a 2 door car. If i were to buy a 2 door car i would either buy something smaller like a 911 or SL 63, or if i wanted 2 ppl in the back then would get an M3, which handles better too. (ignoring price differences). and if i were to spend that much money then bentley would make more sense.

I have had the CL63 since May 2007 and people still ask me what it is, wave as they drive by and take pictures with their cell phones. Stealthy? No.

I'd pick the coupe over the sedan in the 221/216 range. IMHO the CL AMG is one of the prettiest cars MB sell to date. I agree about the bland rear, but that gets compensated with the rest.
If you don't need the rear seats of the sedan go with the coupe!

I'm surprised it's taken 23 posts to answer this question, but here it is: if you need 4 doors, get the S. If not, get the CL (or whichever you find a better deal on).
Needing 4 doors would mean you have people in the back seat often enough that it's a hassle and, if you bought a coupe, you would routinely wish you had a sedan.
Excluding the convenience factor, the CL is, on paper, a better car. It has generally the same features but is marginally lighter, better handling, etc. The CL will get more attention because it is much rarer and, while the S class is driven by everything from soccer moms to foreign dignitaries, the CL is, well, driven by Charlie Sheen's character on Two and a Half Men.
With that said, I will likely eventually trade my CL for an S because the convenience factor, for me, will eventually outweigh the small advantages of the CL.
The real question is not S vs CL, it's why get a 63? The 55, 600, and 65 all appear to be better engine choices for either car. If you're looking at new, really want AMG styling, and can't swing/justify a 65, I would look at a CPO 65 for probably less money than a new 63.
