Mud Flap Mod 2005 CL65
I installed mud flaps, all 4 corners. Hard to get the photos to show very good being all black and indoors. I'll take photos outside when the weather clears. It's ugly up here in the Pacific N.W. They are .050 aluminum, very slight protrusion out the sides of the body work. This is the drivers side front. I painted the side pictured a satin black using a rattle can Krylon. The inside is a spray material for undercoating I got at the auto parts store. Fastened with 6 screws, stainless steel with a baked on black finish on the heads. The angle seen is a reciprocal of the body work angle. You barely notice they are even there. When you look straight down at the tire from the front, they stick out about 3/16" past the tire. The front tires have a bit of camber, but the mud flap is plumb with the world. It looks right. The fronts are 9.5" wide and the rears are 11" wide. I've always thought these cars are missing something right there and I like the stance now. No big deal if I don't like it later, just unscrew them and fill the holes. I used card board until I got a pattern i liked, then duplicated that to aluminum, cut out the aluminum and roughed it close. Then duplicated that to the other piece of alumimum, clamped them both together and finish sanded the periphery to make them both perfectly identical. Then formed them using a propane canister on its side. The rears were harder than the fronts, had to take tire off and then suspend the car at driving height before installing. Kind of nerve wracking lowering my jack ever so slightly. Took measurement of height before, then lowered to that dimension, then installed. Fronts were installed with tire turned out of the way.

I'll post more pictures soon. Maybe later today/tonight. Yes, they work really good. As long as they are at least flush with the tire or sticking out just a tad bit more, they will catch all the crap. The insides were covered in debris after only a few mile drive. All four corners. The roads up here are just full of tree debris and pine needles. Lots of rain and wind lately, so I put them thru a good test and they really did work good.

MBWorld Fanatic!
Is there an OEM or MB Accessory catalog product equivalent?
Would you think of fabricating some for a CL55? Should use the same patten.
Sorry I'm lazy.

I don't know of anything OEM....i lightly checked. If there is, it's the plastic fatter kind that i didn't want. I just wanted a very thin subtle look. I don't know about fabbing any more.....to get from raw aluminum to the finished painted pieces takes a garage hack a long time without all the pro equipment. I'll think about it, what do you have in mind. The whole set, all 4? I ran for a bit with just the rears and didn't like it...then made the fronts. If my labor is worth say 25 bucks an hour, these 4 stupid mud flaps cost me like $200 in labor. Just no value in it without going volumes. If i could make them in higher volumes.... Maybe something to consider. Just the aluminum, you prime and paint them yourself with your own choices of materials.

Anyone know what kind of mud flaps these are or where to buy? They look flush on this CL65. I'd only want to do the rear tho, I get tire shine splattered all over from the back tires kicking
