Turbo's & SuperChargers are different in this aspect, maybe why you question it etc.. TurboCharged motors hate back pressure, NON TurboCharged cars need to scavange some of the exhasut gases. Turbos work best when there is a big pressure difference on each side of the Turbo.

The stock cats are really restrictive, DownPipes and a free flowing 3" straight pipe exhaust will allow higher boost. The waste gate can be disconnected or modified by multiple ways you will be able to boost till the car hits fuel cut-off... I've modded my SL600 to hit 700+ rwp 800+ rwtq on oem Turbs (Q16 + mods etc)
Is that all, p***y

Dyno or track results only. Butt dyno does is not accurate.

so i was talking to the shop owner and he wants to sell them for $1200 for the set.. and i thought it was a great price, but i was trying to talk him in to doing a group buy and lowering the price acouple hundrand so MBWORLD can get a great price, so i am going to try to talk him down to 900-1000 dollars for these 3inch stainless steel catless downpipes.... what do you guys think? is 900-1000 a good price range to talk him down too?

They look like a real nice fit. Just wondering why 8-9 welds on such a short piece. Is that only on the mock up or is the final product expected to be made the same? It appears to be fabricated from pre-bent pieces instead of bending a longer piece of pipe. I would think the bends could be made out of longer lengths reducing the welds to only a few (for the flanges and O2s). Either way it should still help.

this set up is about 5 foot long, and i wish i could of had less welding points but this shop and 90% of the fabricating shops here do not have a manderal tube bender or a die for 3 inch tubing to perform this project, i found one company that did have a manderl bender but it was around a 1 year wait to get my car in. so i brought to this mercedes performance shop and they got a bunch of pre bent pipes and built this set up, and they told me that allot of people use this prebent pipe setup even more when it involves exhaust headers

and after visting there shop, i couldnt stop looking at the SLR on the rack getting performance mods.. and not to mention all the other AMG cars there... so i didnt want to sound like a crazy CL65 owner questioning the whole project, because im sure that SLR owner trusts them enough with his car being there

Did you do a pre dyno and do you plan to do an after dyno? Is your beast tuned or is it on the stock file?

I'll try to help 1 last time my Exhaust shop of choice (In So CA) has ALL proper tools, Mandrel Pipe bender, every die possible etc... He did both 300-cell race cat version 1st then my latest request CATLESS 3" Dwn Pipes $500 out the door about 3 hours of work w/2 welding points, I even have the proper O2 bungs for simulators/extenders NO chk eng lights etc..

Cat-Less 3" DP's net anywhere bet 25-30+ rwhp & rwtq thru entire RPM band I've Dyno'd ALL different configurations possible Pre-Post

Note worthy: After 3" cat-back + Muffler removal it totally moved the rwhp higher in the RPM band, I def noticed rwtq move higher in RPM band, felt like a loss but not just changes where the motor makes power. But after Cat-Less version it moves it back down lower in band + adds more hp/tq even more throttle response a great mod on ANY BITURBO & last but not least ungodly SOUND

Seriously you have to hear these V12's in person under load it's flat freaky, like an off-shore racing boat w/Turbo BOV sounds eminating between each gear change, hell you can hear Psshhh-Khhhhaaa on Freeway @ 65 mph when blip throttle or kickdown gear change etc..

damn where were you in the last year when i needed a shop for my downpipes... i called 5 exhaust shops in a 30 miles radius and i never got a price less then $1200 and 6 month min wait time, man you must have a great relation ship with that shop for getting that set up for $500, just making the custom odd sized vbands and flanges from the machine shop shop so my downpipes can be direct bolt on cost me $250 just by its self and my car was on there rack for 2 weeks for this custom downpipes... man seriously you got a great deal buddy for $500 for bolt on catless DP. i was going to call speedriven to buy there downpipes for around $1300 shipped with a 2 week build time but at that time i also needed to pay a shop 2-300 dollars to install the downpipes at a cost of $1600...

Ps I replied to your thread 6 days after you started it back on page no 1..

i just picked up my car and holy crap!!!!! talk about insane, my car sounds like a airplane its insane i will have a clip of the exhaust note tomorrow morning ( cold start)..

also i got some news the exhaust system that was built on my car was a prototype kit so the shop can build a jig to make extra downpipes.. the owner told me that the downpipes he makes from now on are NOT going to have so many welded sections, he said since my car was a prototype i got the setup which has a bunch of welded sections.... sooo i guess whoever buys these downpipes will have a nicer setup then me

They are well known amongst the forum members. I haven't been down to the shop in a while but I am good friends with both Serge and Nick.
