Arrow Convert shift buttons to paddles for $100?!

Check these out..

http://www.ebay.com/itm/BENZ-AMG-PAD...c17004&vxp=mtr

They really look like some easily swappable parts.. What do you guys think? Anyone want to test them out and see if they fit?

There are multiple posts regarding this. How easy it is depends on the model you have.

This is a question for the w215 with button shifters. The subform you're posting in...

From talking with latemodel21 about doing the conversion on my 2005 CL65 he said there are different part numbers used on different W215 models. I plan to installing a set on mine in the next month, so I'll be able to post more details after I actually do it.

These are chinese made paddles for $100, and thats part of the point. So cheap, why not try to make it work? I do see the part numbers #A2125450068,A2125450168 in the listing, but even if they dont directly bolt in, it would apear you can disassemble them and remove the "button" part, and replace that with the button part on the w215.

Would like to know if anyone gets these working and the quality.

I imagine they are plastic unlike the Mercedes aluminum units.

From the ebay listing

"Great chance upgrade your plastic paddle to Aluminum Paddle. "

So I guess they are metal.

Even better if they work. I know there was some W215 owners that did their own conversion using Mercedes parts. I was not plug and play however.

See: https://mbworld.org/forums/cl55-amg-...ing-wheel.html

They state a conversion module is needed to adapt.

Those are real AMG paddles ... but they are no better suited than the brand new AMG paddles from oediscountparts.com

It is not clear to me what type of buttons or paddles your wheel came equipped with. If it had plastic paddles (don't think I've seen them on a cl55) then these (in the ebay add and/or the 1712670046 from oediscountparts.com for $108.75 shipped) would mount directly in your wheel AND be funtionally compatible (with a very minor amount of modification to allow the addition travel the metal paddle requires). If you have the small plastic BUTTONS (like the ones used in 2003 - 2006 or so e55 and s55) then you will have to significantly modify your wheel (physically) to use these paddles.

if you have the latter mentioned buttons, then you may OR may not need (depending on when your car was built) the "paddle converter module" .

if you want some more info on how to determine what you have and what will work for your car, feel free to shoot me a pm.

Chris

Any updates on that?
I'm located in europe and i hate the little buttons on my Steering wheel and would like to have real paddles. But no shop offering it here in europe AFAIK.
What kind of "converter box" is needed btw and why? Isn't such a paddle just closing a circuit upon activation?

Thanks
Crissus

the "mercedes paddle converter" AND paddles are available (together or individually) in Europe through Comandonlineuk
http://www.commandonline.co.uk/searc...=search&page=1

you can also buy the module (and paddles) installed in a customized wheel from DCT motorsports (an MB world sponsor here in the US)

If you have questions about the module, send me a PM and I will be happy to answer them.

Cheers,
Chris
