Been digging around, and still looking for these answers. I know the Tele Aid system in 2002 was an analog system, and in 2007 analog went away, and Tele Aid could be upgraded to a digital system by the addition of hardware and firmware. My questions:

1) Is the 2007+ digital Tele Aid subscription service still available from MB?

2) How can I determine if my car received the digital upgrade?

3) If it hasn't, has anyone done this recently, how much did it cost and is it a DIY? The firmware would have to be flashed via Star I'm sure.

The digital upgrade is still available for retrofit. I don't remember the pricing offhand, but a call to your dealer will tell you

I've got the analog system in my 07 R and they wanted $1,500 for the digital retrofit.

I wonder how I can tell if it's been upgraded? Without paying the dealer to tell me that

Push the SOS button and see if a connection is made or if it fail due to no analog cell tower being found.
