Low End engine ticking 55 Kompressor. (Conrod bearings??)
Hi guys, i have a low end engine ticking, starting every time the engine is fully warmed up - means coolant reached normal temperature + 10 minutes drive. This ticking got a bit louder after the recent oil-change.
Also, you can somehow only hear it from below the car or from the sides (going down with your head to the front wheels for instance).
The top engine sounds should be normal (based on various test-drives i had before buying this car). The top very light tickings sound like if its the injectors and/or the ignition coils - should be normal.
Some people said it could be a beginning connecting-rod-bearing failure.
At least at one guy with an E55 AMG, it started the same, got louder into a "knocking" and later was a full con-rod bearing failure.
Please watch the video. good noticeable at the end as i was kneeling at the right front wheel.

a connecting rod or main bearing going bad will not make a tick , it will be more of a faint low end knock and get deeper sounding over time .
it's more then likely valve train noise , mine has the same ticking noise when warmed up .
not sure what bearings are used in ours but most are zinc coated bronze or copper .
if you drain the oil you can see the copper colored particles if you have a bearing going bad . sometimes you can pull the dipstick and look at it in the sun and see them .

same exact thing with mine. Sometimes its louder and sometimes barely audible. it bugs the **** outta me, but I've learned to live with it. I don't baby mine, so if something were beginning to let go, it would have done so by now.

Same here, it also pisses me off. I always think its broken or going to break... Im very sensitive with engine noises, so it really annoys me...
