ABC going crazy.

Was driving home from the airport last night, went over a speed bump, and suddenly my car started violently rocking back an forth from side to side. Felt like it had all four tires come loose while doing a rodeo test driving down a bad road. I was only going about 20 mph since I was in a residential neighborhood and just went over the speed bump. I was about to pull over after about 10-15 seconds of this, but it slowly stopped. Suddenly I remembered feeling this sensation before, and I suspected the car might be fine after all.

Well, I was right. It was just a 7.1 magnitude earthquake. We are all Ok, but a growler I had sitting upside down on my kitchen counter to dry fell over.

7.1 and all you can do is think the ABC is to blame? LOL That is crazy, glad that nothing else was damaged car, family and other belongings.

There was damage to a lot of stores, warehouses, etc. where stuff is stacked high. A house blew up after a gas leak,m there were a couple more that caught fire and some had to be evacuated. One road is closed due to the giant crevasse where it used to be a road, but most importantly no reports of serious injuries. A picture fell off the wall in my sons room and hit him in the head waking him up, but he is 20 so still not using his head for much anyway, LOL.

Geez, don't come across that everyday!!!! Glad everyone is okay and there weren't any serious injuries.

So whilst ABC can smooth out most road conditions, a 7.1 magnitude earthquake is just too much... lol

If I was in your position, I'd be far happier with an earthquake than having my ABC malfunction. Jokes aside, I'm glad you and your loved ones are alright.

Yep, the earthquake lasted about a minute but I only felt about 10-15 seconds of it so I'd say the ABC smoothed out everything below about a 6.5.

Yeah, I have a friend who said she was going to take her kids over there and help sort nails. Sounds like fun huh?

Oh trust me, I've been saying how awesome it was just a massive earthquake and not an ABC problem. Then I realize how self cenetered that sounds when some lost their homes and feel like a schmuck.......

BUT MY ABC IS OK!!!!

Some people could probably fix their homes for less than a ABC malfunction though, don't feel too bad!!! lol

Hi Dr Matt,
Very new to this forum and needing some help!
The description you mention above about the ABC acting up and feels like an earthquake while driving or as you say "rodeo".
I'm having this exact experience in my 2007 CL600 w216 Brabus. Except i was doing around 120-130kmh when it suddenly went crazy and it wasn't an earth quake!
The faster im going the more violent the movement, slower and it calms down..
Wondering you have had this issue with the ABC and how did you rectify it?
Thanks,
Russell.

I haven't had the car shake while driving due to an ABC issue, mine was an actual earthquake. I responded to your thread.
