2004 S55 Transmission issue - changing gears at 4k revs?
Hello all
My 2004 S55 has been having a few transmission issues for a while now but whatever it is has just got worse now.
It started off by holding/locking itself into gears, mainly 3rd gear. It would not change up until about 5k revs. So i had it serviced and some anti-judder additive added to the new fluid at the same time. This seemed to have sorted the problem out . . . . . until about a year later when the same thing started happening. This time it also would not come out of the lower gears until 4-5k revs and then its quite a sharp change. So once again, i got it serviced and added the additive again.
Seemed to resolve it again, but this time only for about 3 months and now im back to square one. Iv just had a drive of about half a mile whereby it didnt even come out of first gear.
Must be said though, theres no problems in manual mode, only Comfort or Sport settings. In Manual i can change up and down quite freely.
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks

ok, had it scanned on STAR and its come back with the following:-
P2222 - The signal of component Y3/6b1 (Transmission Oil Temperature Sensor) and/or Y3/6S1 (Starter Lockout Contact) is implausible.
So its either the Transmission Oil Temperature Sensor OR the Starter Lockout Contact which are faulty, or worse still, Both are faulty.
Would this point to a part that can easily be replaced or would this point to an expensive Valve Body?
The other thing iv noticed is that it mainly only gets stuck in 1st gear, and mainly only when it comes up to temperature. Possibly pointing towards the Oil Temp Sensor?
Its the 2 components on the left side towards the bottom. The signal seems to have been lost between the 2. Like i said, im not sure wether either of these bits can be replaced individually or wether the whole Valve Body needs to be replaced. ORRRR, wether the valve body can be rebuilt?
Iv heard my Indy say that i need a new Valve Body, and it has to be a brand new one so it can be programmed to the car. If i get a second hand one from another car then that cannot be reprogrammed
