If you haven't replaced your hydraulic lines, you better do so before they go bad. Clean ABC fluid, filters, and fresh lines as well as new accumulators are the way to go for system longevity but even that does not guarantee your tandem pump won't fail and send tiny metal particles through the system that creates a domino effect for years to come.

I hear you BlownV8. What you are saying sounds logical. However, as I said, my mechanic says there's nothing that I should do preventative at this time with respect to the ABC system. But I will make a note of this and certainly ask him about it and his recommendations at the next servicing.

My guy has maintained my car for 10 years and I religiously follow his advice. My car is the best car I've ever owned and my mechanic is the best mechanic I've ever had. Probably not a coincidence.

Decided on Brixton wheels

Cant decide between these two styles....

http://brixtonforged.com/forged-whee...on-forged-pf1/

http://brixtonforged.com/forged-whee...on-forged-pf5/

Which wheel would you think would look better on this project?

By the way if anyone out there is interested in buying any Brixton style, PM me as I can get us a deep discount as they are co-sponsoring my build. These are new styles for them and they are looking to get units out there as well as pics for their gallery. Good opportunity for an excellent product. Fantastic company to deal with. They will gladly do renderings for you so you can see what you will end up with without risk. Each style they offer either come in mono block, two piece or three piece. Any offset, any width. I'm opting 21" x 10.5, 12"

Kits for the W216 used to be $15k when I last looked. They have come down in price by $10K for these knock offs out of Poland. I bought the second kit and made him an offer of...get this $2k plus we split the shipping for a total of $2175! Can you believe that?

The kit includes:

Hood
Front fender flares
Rear fender flares
Trunk lip
Rockers
Front bumper
Rear bumper
Rear diffuser
Front lip
Black meshing

The parts are made and shipped from Poland so I'll let you know what the quality looks like upon arrival but my bodyman is a wizard so I'm sure he can make this work.

Here are some pics of the raw parts for a C class the seller sent me as an example.
I don't want to be negative but I was also thinking about a body kit
then at one point I looked at the aerodynamic aspect of doing this

Mercedes has the best aerodynamic engineers around
Is it really a good Idea to modify the whole aerodynamic to a made by some tuner company kit who probably have no real skills for those speeds
my CL goes 315 kmph
what if at that speed on German Highway a part blows off ??
will I disintegrate like the NASA shuttle ?

I asked that question to one of these company's and answer was:
"wow, that is fast, it should be ok..."

really ? think about all this before doing that

First parts in....

Out of the five packages that were mailed to me from Poland, the first two arrived.

As scheptical as I was, I was thrilled that the quality of the parts are surprisingly high, for example, on the hood, the subframe is oem which was a huge surprise for my installer who helped with the unwrapping. Had a few scratches due to improper packaging but nothing that isn't easily fixable in the bodyshop. Overall, the kit was better than expected according to my guy who does several kits a year and has seen many a part.

Here are some initial pics. I should have taken a shot of the underside of the hood so you can see what I meant about the subframe. I'll take one soon.

By the way...If this thread is dead and no one has any interest in it, this will be my last post on the subject so please let me know if anyone is still interested in this build. I may just document the build elsewhere on my Facebook page instead.

Thanks.

I'm definitely interested in seeing where this goes!

Are you going to change up the color on the car? Vinyl wrap might be a good option to look at its a great opportunity to mix it up since the body kit isn't color matched yet

I am going to paint the kit Iridium Silver to match the car because there's no going back to oem after we start cutting. We may then wrap the entire car later if the silver doesn't do it for us. Also, I was informed that raw fiberglass can not be wrapped in film. That the film will not hold onto the porous parts and that there needs to be a clear finish before wrapping. I basically have no choice other than to paint the kit oem Iridium Silver, then wrap the entire car after the build if desired. Being the car is a neutral color, I think given the ability to de-chrome the car, silver is a color that can pull off a wide body kit. Although grey, black, white are the more desirable monotones IMO, Silver may just work. We'll have to see. I googled "silver wide body MB" and couldn't find an example of what the end result would look like so, hey, this may be the first example done in Iridium. I'm going to dye the seat fronts (front and rear) in a flat red to get some interior pop along with a carbon fiber wrap on my wood trim in the interior. This should all tie in nicely at the end of the day.

I saw an oem factory Matte Grey AMG CLS63 and it was just stunning. Lagoon blue was our first color of choice in a wrap but ultimately decided that it may end up looking a bit too ricey. If we do wrap her, it will undoubtedly be in a color that MB actually offers on their late model CL's or S coupes. Specifically one of the matte choices which MB currently does.

There are two matte Designo colors currently offered by MB...

Designo Alanite Grey Magno (matte)
Designo Cashmere White Magno (matte)

Thats too bad. But given that it is fiberglass and the damage is relatively light probably makes sense to just fix it and move on. You might want to let the shipper know for the future and, who knows, they might give you something for the inconvenience. I know i would.

And we are finally permanently mounted!

All test fitting done. Just trying to get the parts all fitting next to each other. It's literally like a puzzle where one gap fits but other gap is way off. Getting closer.

New twist...

My painter said he would repaint my entire car for only $750 more than the quote to match the oem color if he doesn't have to do the jams and engine bay. I have decided to paint the car battleship gray (no flake) because these colors will allow me to ignore those areas due to silver and gray being in the same color family. I have whittled down to one of two colors:

Audi Nardo Gray.
Aston Martin China Gray.

Nardo has blue undertones, China has purple.

Wow. This part of the build is really sucking. That vortex that always seems to occur when your bodyman "Works on you car when he can fit it in and can make the time stage."

Waiting patiently as my car's getting older....Oh, did I mention I am ready to paint? Looks like three more weeks of - needing to get the lines straight, the fit right, and wavy panels that need to be blocked.

Stay tuned.
