Dom's CL55 AMG build / picture thread!
Hey guys I think its time to start a build thread for this car too, will be posting lots of pictures and updates so stay tuned!
Let start off from the beginning, I purchased the car right before Christmas 2016, I got it for a steal (way under 10k) from my buddys grandfather who purchased the car new in 2005 it has 210,000 miles but came with a book full of maintenance records and being very familiar with Mercedes as well as a good friend with a shop I decided to pull the trigger and purchase the W215.
The car came stock except mufflers had been removed and on lorinser wheels.
Stack of records and original window sticker

Shortly after the car developed a misfire under WOT after a week of trying to diagnose after work and replacing a few coil packs I found it to be the spark plugs, Went ahead and put on new valve cover gaskets while I was in there and cleaned up the engine bay a bit, car drives like an absolute monster now

Literally the day after I got her running correctly during my morning commute to work, someone decided to run a stop sign and T-bone the CL
I was devastated and thought it would for sure be a total loss...
Luckily his insurance fully covered the damages, a month later she was back on the road as good as new!

This last weekend was filled with car activities like good ol days! Took her one a huge euro car cruise up through the mountains, needless to say she drove like an absolute dream!
The next day me and my good friend David were going to have some exhaust work done, I was going to have the mufflers put back on and resonator deleted but they could'nt fit us in so we decided to just go take some pictures instead
Oh and by the way his wagon is completely E55 AMG swapped, one of the very few in the USA

Up next on the mod list are a CF lip / diffuser, getting my exhaust handled as well as a few engine mod goodies!
Maintanence wise I need to rebuild my ABC front valve block as its developed a small sag on the drivers side strut when parked, only about a 1/2 inch or so. It lifts when I turn on the car as well as goes through all the settings and hold height just fine while the car is on. Rebuild looks simple enough hope to take care of it this weekend at my buddys shop

Please explain the negative camber in one of these photos ?? I would have thought in San Diego you could have found a nicer background..... Here we have nothing but snow, so some flowers would have been nice to see...

And heres some "California" scenery shots of my old 55 swapped C43
On a side note the drivers side strut sag when parked seems to have stopped, its holding height over night again, still going to flush fluids and put in a new filter. Ordered the O-ring valve block rebuild kit so I'll probably still do it just for some preventative maintenance. Hopefully get some real photos done this weekend

Very nice build I am enjoying the pictures. Keep it up.
Are you going to do anything with the interior? I notice the wood accents. My CL 55 had the same thing and I felt it was a little dated. So I had them carbon fiber wrapped and it really brought the car current for very little money. You may want to think about it. There's another thread here where the guy has a CL 63 and he was thinking of doing a black carbon fiber wrap with a red accent. I think that would look awesome with your black interior.

If your talking about the wagon its just natural camber from lowering down on air suspension, car raises almost to stock height, if your asking about mine its probably just an illusion from using a slight pano shot, there isnt much camber.

Thanks guys! definitely one of the cleanest 200k mile cars i've ever seen, people are shocked when I tell them what I got it for.

Here we have more snow right now with an expected low tonight of Minus 28 Celsius with wind chill.

So Calgary, I must assume you are in Canada. As an X Canuck living in Southern California, all I can tell you is that my CL has never seen snow tires and it was 72 Fahrenheit here today. Nothing worse than a reformed Canuck. 😀

MIGHT remember - go on in October and come off in April - if we are lucky.
But I will try and make it to the Long Beach Indy Car race next month, just to get away for a few days....

If you want to see flowers and cool cars while you are here get Dom to take his car to the Carlsbad flower fields and meet you there. Awesome win/win!
