w215 -- starter problems (turning but not starting)
Hi
I seek help with my w215 CL600 TT which doesn't start -- starter was turning but doesn't engage.
First thought it was the solenoid so since this is the 1st starter since 2002 wanted to be sure and replaced the whole thing with a new starter.
Replaced the starter and all was fine for about 1-week and now the same problem occurred again.
Strangely, I have the same problem with a w215 CL63, which was parked for roughly 3-months, battery went low despite being on a charger. I replaced is with a new one but same issue like the 600; starter turning over but doesn't engage.
Anyone faced a similar problem and possibly can offer help?

An engine needs three things to function. Spark, air/fuel and compression. Have you verified that it is getting fuel and the plugs are firing? Have you scanned for codes? I doubt it is a compression issue since it went away with a new starter. Is the starter cranking fast or just barely turning it over?
