Star Diagnostic C3 or C4 ????

Good morning everyone,

I'm planning on buying a star diagnostic system to help me with my CL65. I've seen some listed on craigslist and ebay. They offer C3 and C4 versions. Does it matter which one I get or is one more preferred over the other?

Currently I have the MBII scanner for codes etc and it works well. I just think, since I plan on keeping this car a long time, that having the better system would be worth it.

Thanks for any advice.

Well, I was able to find out the differences. The C3 is for cars from 1989 to 2015. The C4 is for cars from 2000 to 2018. I was told that the C4 version also includes SCN coding.

So, I guess it's ok to buy the cheaper version.

Thanks for sharing your findings. With no intentions of selling my car either, its something I should invest in as well. Most of diagnostics have been done by closing my eyes and listening. Not the best method.
