Question CLA45S CANADA?

I was looking around on the mb Canada website and saw that they didn't have the cla45 "s" model on their model list nor was it on the future vehicles list. Will Canada get stuck with "only" the 382 hp? There isn't an option in the build section either.

Does anyone know if it's only Canada that isn't getting the "s" model or is it a North American thing? That extra ~ 40 horsepower is a big deal but apart from the power boost, does the "s" model get an E-LSD or something?

Sorry for the bad news but it is a North American thing.
The easiest way to tell if a car is coming to Canada is go to the "Future Vehicles & Concepts" section on the MB Canada site.
The most complete information will be the MB Canada Media site, if you don't see the mention of any S model, it isn't coming to Canada unless they change their mind down the road through the model years.

No S model in Canada unfortunately. That really sucks and hope next year they will consider bringing the S model here.

MB Canada likes to follow MBUSA, as long as USA doesn't get it Canada unlikely to get it. North America wise, I think Mexico has the 45s version.

Mexico indeed does have the S version, ugh!

Crazy thing happened when I bought my c43 wagon. They had a cla45s on the show room floor, sales guy tried to sell me that as the botched my order due to covid. They had received it by mistake but wouldn’t confirm or deny it’s specs. He said they had to take the S off. That would make it the only one in Canada. Only reasons I didn’t take that one is because it wasn’t practical for me (trunk space) and the depreciation is insane in the cla AMGs. It’s now being driven by the manager last I heard.

Oh wow! 1 out of 1 now that is what I call rare! I am surprised the manager is allowed to have it because I am still shocked it met regulation requirements and passed inspection. North American coupé (including the 4 door ones) vehicles need to have the bumperettes and yellow side marker in the headlight.

Anyone know why they can't bring the S model here in Canada what did the S not meet in terms of our Canadian regulations?

I would confirm by the serial number before believing that it is indeed an S version. One thing to also check is if they did in fact remove the S badge on the trunk, the remaining CLA 45 badge would be offset about one inch towards the left on the trunk lid compared to other CLA 45 badges. I would be willing to bet a cold beer that the sales guy was BS'ing you.

From what I understood from the media statement from Mercedes, the S models has a feature whereby it is able to call on the help of the air-conditioning to help lower the intake temperature.

"The engine's high degree of supercharging calls for a high-performance intercooler. So that the charge air can be cooled close to the ambient temperature despite the extreme quantities of heat, for the first time a 2-stage, indirect intercooler has been developed. It works in conjunction with the air conditioning system, and is used in the S-models where it has been integrated into the low-temperature circuit. For this was necessary to completely redesign the configuration of the condenser in the front end. One condenser is located in the wheel arch, and a second one is positioned in first row of the central cooling module. The separate condenser and radiator configuration and thermal management specifically designed to meet (everyday) requirements and (racetrack) performance enable efficient and coordinated cooling performance."

Link can be found here.

I can attest to this as well from the datalog when I put my car on the dyno for a remap, it shows that the intake air temperature is actually lower than the ambient temperature.

The ambient temperature was at 31 degrees, and from the datalog the air intake temperature measured was between 17 to 22 degrees.

Green is for RPM and red is the air intake temperature, dyno pull was on 4th gear.
