CLA reliability - better info sooner
 

I wanted more up-to-date car reliability information that made the differences between cars clearer. So a few years ago I started getting people together to make this possible. TrueDelta now updates actual repair frequencies, not just dots, four times a year, to report on new models sooner and track cars closely as they age.

We've had very good participation by Mercedes owners, and I'd similarly like to provide solid stats for the CLA. Just a matter of getting enough owners involved.

Participants simply report repairs the month after they occur on a one-page survey. When there are no repairs, they simply report an approximate odometer reading four times a year, following the end of each quarter.

To encourage participation, participants receive full access to all results, not just those for the CLA, for free. I'll share results for the CLA in this thread after each update.

A few owners have signed up, and we've added the CLA to the survey. More will be needed to provide stats, though.

Getting there. Still not enough to have stats with the May update, though. With 5-6 more cars we could have an initial stat in August.

We've updated stats for most other Mercedes models to cover through the end of March.

To provide the same for the CLA, we still need a few more participants.

It's going to be close--we might have an initial stat for the CLA in November.

2014 CLA: 61, high, very small sample size

I'd like to see a larger sample size before ascribing much to this result. Additional participants would be very helpful.

Consumer Reports blames a terrible showing by Mercedes in their 2015 car ratings on the CLA!

Do your statistics agree with the Consumer Reports data?

Is the CLA really that poor in reliability? If so, what is wrong with it?

We don't have much data on the CLA. The little we do have suggests a high (but not a very high) repair frequency. None of the reported problems is serious, but this is typical of new cars.

I'd like to be able to provide more detailed information, but to do this we need more owners involved. If you're reading this, and haven't been helping with the quarterly survey, I hope you'll consider it.

Given the sample size, this stat is a rough indicator, at best. I'd like to provide precise stats for the CLA in future updates, so I hope more owners will get involved.
