Questions/First Impressions of 2021 CLA250
I'm venturing over to the CLA forums as I presently have a CLA loaner with 55 miles on the clock and had a couple of comments/questions after having it for about 24 hours now (not that any of this really affects me, I'm mostly just curious):
1. I hear a whining noise, which I believe to be coming from the DCT — is that normal? Happens primarily during acceleration and braking (changes in RPM). I'm 99% sure it's not coming from the engine, having driven the M274 2.0L in C-, E-, and GLE-Class loaners, although I do understand that this is technically a different variant. This noise is distinctly different from engine note/clatter.
2. When the car starts from a stop, I hear this profound/loud air release noise — is this normal?
3. I can feel the clutches engaging and disengaging through the floorboard, particularly when braking, multiple times in a second — it seems to not downshift when slowing down, and then when it gets slow enough it realizes it has some shifting/dis-engaging/engaging to do (doesn't seem to be disengaging both clutches while slowing down as if it were coasting, from my observance of the tachometer). Is this how the transmission is programed?
Otherwise, wow, this car is great. It is such a sizable improvement over the last CLA. The build-quality is far better than the W205 C-Class. I know it only has 55 miles on it, but everything feels far sturdier, and even many of the materials nicer than a C300 W205. The interior is awesome considering the price-point and for the target market. My only issue is I can't really get comfortable in it (yet).
Thanks in advance!
