C118 CLA250 air intake upgrade. Baby's got designer lungs
The M260 turbo engine has shown quite impressive results when evaluated on Mercedes' data sheet, which resulted in its usage on quite a few models, from 250 version up to the 35 version, with a few adjustments.
Fitting this engine into a narrow compartment, however, was no easy task, and has come with a couple of trade-offs, namely the layout of the intake system, and heat dissipation capability.
See, what we want is to keep that temp as low as possible under the hood, for better oxygen intake, for better performance.
That's the case of this recent upgrade I've done on a CLA250, a carbon fiber air intake and turbo tube manufactured by Eventuri.
To further improve the end result wow factor, we also added a genuine M260 AMG engine cover and an AMG roof bar, simultaneously improving performance AND aesthetics.
Normally, for the intake upgrade we got a larger flow rate filter, but in this case, Eventuri redesigned the whole process. In order to free up more space than initially provided, and maximize the air flow, they designed a way to relocate the ECU, and allowing a larger intake (dry carbon fiber) that gets the job done. The material has stronger thermal insulation, which greatly reduces temperature in the air box and duct.
Coupled with a Gen2 Air filter (proprietary patent), which uses something called the Venturi Effect, that pressurizes the air flow, right into their turbo tube, I can confidently say, the combustion efficiency is guaranteed.
