Oops - Break In Period
In the excitement of getting a new car I forgot about this and even though modern cars are better machined it is advised and for the first 1,000 miles right?
So I drove about 20 miles in sport mode, with several accelerations from a stop light to 50 (nothing excessive like red lining, shifted around 4-4500 rpm). Also, what about when people test drive the vehicle? When I did it I accelerated at least once to see how fast it would move. Have I done some damage or is it redeemable? I also read that you shouldn't downshift but even in automatic the car was downshifting by itself (maybe just in sport mode, can't remember).
Lesson learned will drive in comfort mode now, do I need to hold to that up to 1,000 miles? After that I'll probably take it easy during the week commuting to save gas but will run in sport a day or two during the weekend.
