How's new A 250, 2.0T engine with 221hp? reliability?

hey guys

going to buy the all new A class in Canada, 2019 model, looked at the car yesterday, it was far far greater than Audi A3 or bmw, my question is, looks like this car has all new 2.0T engine, with 221 HP, how's this engine, is this engine reliable? dealer said, this engine has in EU for two years, any one from EU drive this engine?

thanks

I'm in the same boat. Thinking about picking up the a 220 in Toronto when it's available but I have no idea how reliability is and whether the infotainment is a blessing or a curse.

Did you make any decisions on your purchase @vfxcxn0309

hey, i'm in Toronto as well, Mississauga. the dealer told me, A220 will arrive at dealer this month (March), i need to go check it out. i have already test drive the A250, feels very good. but A220 has less HP, only 188, but the same engine as A250.

i still need 3-4 month time to get payment ready to pay, so during this time, i want to collect as much as info possible about how reliable this new engine, and the new i need to keep this car for 7-8 years.

i got some info about the engine, you need to translate into english.

http://www.forum-mercedes.com/topic-...oteur-260.html

i haven't made decision on A220 or A250, but very sure i will pick one of them, the A class is game changer. even better than A4 and bmw 3

do you have any info on your end?

2019 A250 4matic
I leased my A250 two months ago and the car was at the dealership for repairs many times since then

  1. The first day ,after taking delivery, the inside mirror felt off. 15 minutes repair
  2. Leaving the dealership after that repair, check engine light appears. I had to bring back the car - 2 hours
  3. Two weeks later, I got a 4matic not working error. Back to the dealer, they checked the codes and did not find the issue
  4. The day after, the Mercedes Me apps was not working properly. The dealer had to reset everything from his end.
  5. Leaving the dealership, the 4matic not working error pop-up again.
  6. The car was at the dealership for 2 weeks to resolve this issue.
  7. Then the SOS system stop working. Another half a day to reprogram.
  8. Now the car has develop a drivetrain vibration .....
I love the dynamic of the car but reliability so far is very bad.

It was a low battery error. They believe it was cause by a defective fusebox #A177-540-40-07

Repair was easy but the part was not available. The dealer had to remove one from another car.

My aventure continues....2 weeks ago I noticed a noise coming from the engine but not all the time. I was at the dealership the same week to install my summer tires and the mechanic heard the same sound. They did a little investigation but found nothing. Last Friday, the check engine lights up and the noise from the engine was quit loud at idle. I checked the code and found 3 :
  1. P0016 - Crankshaft Position - Camshaft Position Correlation (Bank 1 Sensor A)
  2. P0014 - "B" Camshaft Position - Timing Over-Advanced or System Performance (Bank 1)
  3. P0011 - "A" Camshaft Position - Timing Over-Advanced or System Performance (Bank 1)
Going back (again) to the dealer this afternoon

I talked with the service dept today. The engine needs to be replace ... The dealer should receive the new engine sometime next week.

That sucks. No one should have to face this many challenges with a new car let alone one that's only a few months old. Good luck with the fixes.

I am looking to replace a CLA250 and the A250 was at the top of my short list...but I'm concerned now. Test drove the car twice - definitely more go than the CLA and MBUX is awesome. It's a shame to hear about your issues with it...there are a lot of nice hatches in that price range and I thought this was the creme de la creme.

A250 is great car, i'm waiting for A220, cheaper than A250, less hp but should be better on gas.

when new car come out, the best thing to do is wait for 6-8 months time, wait for them to fix the problem, then go with it. MBUS is clearly ahead of it time.
