wsup everyone! im new to this site along with the whole mercedes scene. i was currently modding my lexus till it was time to move on to something more sophisticated. a 2000 CLK430. well... here i am and proud to be a member or mdworld.org
- i also had a few questions.. is it bad to drive in sportshift mode all day? or how about from auto to sport shift ever now and then with in the day? also what does the (W and S) buttons mean by the shifter?
heres my ride!

Verrry nice looking CLK - blacked out grill looks great and those rims look excellent with black body.
ON the "W/S" switch - The "S" position (standard) is for "normal" driving. The "W" position (Winter/Wet) causes the car to start in second gear from a stop. MB's way of keeping you from losing traction in snow etc.
Not sure if your other question relates to driving in "4" or shifting "manually" by moving the lever side to side through the gears. If it relates to leaving the tranny in "4" - I'm pretty sure you can do that whenever/as often as you like. The owner's manual describes "4" as "Suitable for performance driving" It says that the engine will not upshift beyond 4th gear in position "4." Other than mileage issues, don't know of drawback to driving in "4" but it's definitely more responsive as I'm sure you've figured out.
If your question is whether you can "manually" shift the car all day long - I don't know but I'm sure that someone will post a link to some thread on this forum where that's been discussed.
Welcome - you car's phat.

CLK W208
i don't know about the sport shift but the S/W S stands for summer and W stands for winter. if you put it on S the car starts in 2nd gear and if you put it in W the car starts in 1st gear for winter purposes but you do get a bit better take off with the W

bought the car stock for 28,000. i got it lowered on blisteins/H&R, 19X8.5 FRONT 19X10 REAR HRE wheels, blacked out grill. borla exhaust system and thats about it so far... had the car for about 3 months now and i love it.... so much power. my main concern is if i were to drive it in -sport shift mode- from 1 to 4 and 4 to 1 etc... would that damage my transmission? the reason why i am curious because i love to play with the car on 1st and 2nd gears just so i can feel the cars power. (im sure many of you guys understand) i wish i would have known of this site before i start modding the my car... theres seem to be a lot of other things i would have done instead... (heard about the website at a local shop)

welcome and your car is freakin sweet. Definitely post anything special you had to do to get those 10.5 treads in the rear. Those rims look similar to the ones I've been looking at.
