Lowered CLK55 Pictures

I have uploaded some pictures of my 2001 CLK55, which shows the drop using H&R springs on the 17 inch AMG stock rims. The drop is equal on both tires with a single finger gap between the wheel and the fender. Handling is exceptional and very little body flex around corners. I am very pleased. However, the car is much lower than stock and subject to bumper damage if I am not very careful. Also, I had the side marker lights painted the same color as the body and the grill and hood emblem were replaced.

AMG-Bilstein Sport Gas-Pressurized Shocks

I didn't change the AMG-Bilstein Sport gas-pressurized shock absorbers as I understand they would be the proper shocks with a drop like this. The car rides very smooth and I much prefer the ride to the AMG springs. Wife doesn't notice a difference so there you go....

I have heard from some that the lower drop may cause the shocks to wear quicker but I doubt this is the case with the Bilstein Sports shocks.

Thank you. The H&R springs are part# 29377. I used #2 spring pads for the fronts with #1 spring pads for the rears, which replaced my stock pads. H&R rates the springs to drop the car 1.0" front & 0.9" rear. However, the spring pad set up will also bring the car approximately another 0.25" lower and perfectly level off the car for an aggressive stance. Realistically, I went from my front being almost a 4 finger gap (2 and 3/4 inch) from the top of the tire to the fender before to a current gap of only 1 finger (a little more than 1/2 inch). In my opinion it is a perfect gap because it isn't slammed but it is also not to far from the fender. The feel of the car puts a smile on my face every time I take a corner hard.

I'm not happy with the ride height of my car after installing these exact springs. I believe H&R are falsely advertising the drop.

These are lowering springs, why would I have to replace the pads ?

My ride height is higher than stock, even if I allow them to settle, how much will they settle?

Update:

I went ahead and ordered #1 (5mm) and #2 (9mm) pads for the front, and number #1 (5mm) pads for the rear.

H&R are not admitting this, but they are targeting US spec CLK55's in their marketing, knowing very well that Euro cars are lower from factory as they do not have bumper height regulations that the US cars do. They even sent me this picture comparing my car with H&R springs to a US stock car with 17" wheels. Go figure.. They should have figured this out when they took my VIN number and asked me to take a pic of every spring and the box showing the part number.

Anyways, in conclusion. If you own a Euro CLK55, don't waste your money on H&R springs, just replace the pads.
