Drivers side mirror discolored??
 

My driver's side mirror has recently taken on a copper colored discoloration. It looks like when I press on the glass you can see it move around the edges, like there is a liquid in there. Like it looks when there is a liquid between 2 pieces of glass. Has anyone else ever had this problem. Is it possible to get the back off the mirror and get in there, right underneath the outside glass? I already have the mirror removed from the housing. Thanks for the help.

It seems your mirror needs to be replaced, I personally haven't had it happen, but that's what it sounds like happened. Do a search on here and you'll find others have had this happen. Btw, I also heard it cost around $300 to replace:mercy:, good luck with that! :y

My drivers side mirror is doing the same as yours.It's the oil that is causing the discoloration.DevilsAngel is correct - $300.00 to replace.:mad:

What oil? There's oil in there? Any cheap fixes?

I had this replaced a couple a years ago when the car was relatively new, the mirror glass just cracked for no reason and was replaced under warranty. However my service advisor told me that it could be claimed under the car's insurance. In Mass. insurance covers all the glass in the vehicle, it worth a shot give your insurance a call.

The mirror is heated.The liquid (oil) is heated , not the mirror.The cheap fix is to do what someone suggested - get a glass shop to cut you a piece for over top.I'm getting mine replaced, I like the mirror defrosting in the winter.

I Had The Same Thing Happen To My Clk And I Had A Glass Shop To Put A Mirror Over My Distorted One. It Cost Me About 30 Dollars Compared To The 350.00 From Mb. It Has Worked Out Fine For Me. No Problems.

yeah, I have a similar problem. Mine actually looks Like what oils looks like in water. I was thinking about going w/ the ebay arrow kit. But as a quick fix I may go with the quick cover up.
