Room/clearance in the rear wheel well...

My 03 430 cab just came off the truck yesterday. Dropped it at the shop this morning, installed the springs and installed my Brabus V multis, 18". I was a bit surprised to hear my tech call me back to say that he was worried about the clearance in the rear wheel wells. It is remarkably close to the rear sway bar and the inner fender liner. Conversation with Brabus USA this afternoon says that they like to use a 10mm spacer on the rear, essentially making it a 9.5/18/ET25. (wheel is marked 9518ET35). They also told me that they frequently do NOT have to use that spacer. I don' t mind, as long as they are proper quality, but have any of you guys noticed how close these agressive wheels are to the suspension components? Is anyone else using this setup, and how's it working out for you? I wouldn't be surprised if I had to push out the rear fenders, although I really don't want to. BTW, 255/35 SO 3 and HandR's, #3 pads in the rear.
Oh, I told them to send the 5mm spacer too. Perhaps I should use them in the front to keep the track correct?
Appreciate your help. Thanks, allen.

Unless Brabus has a hub-centering ring included in the 5mm spacer, your wheel will pretty much fall right off. The rear CLK hub does not leave much room for the wheel to sit on. I tried a 5mm before, and had about 1mm left over for the wheel to rest on. Better be safe and use the 10mm H&R.

Brabus suggested...

the 10mm setup. New lugs too. I'm just concerned that we're headed for the fender. And I didn't see a 10mm H/R. Only a 5 and a 15. I figure they (Brabus NA) has had more experience with their wheels than anyone else, so I'll find out in the morning.

Sorry, have...

not has. Typo. Bad grammar on the net drives me nuts, even when it's mine. Sorry.

We carry 10mm H&R spacers. Just make sure you have enouh hub left over after the 5mm spacer.
