Little plastic caps/covers on the front bumper?

I was wondering where I could purchase one of those little plastic caps/covers that mount on the left and the right side of the front bumper (vacant headlight cleaner openings?)

I lost one this morning and it looked like the previous owner glued it on.

~$46 from the dealer :(

Nothing online? Be nice to find something prepainted too, but I doubt it.

na i wasnt able to neway...best bet is the dealer...it comes painted for that price

Silverbillet 06-26-2008 06:50 PM

Did you guys glue it onto you bumper? I am asking because I found a replacement bump with holes the headlight washer but my car doesn't have them. Can I just glue them on, will they stay? Thanks ahead.

dcp-m3 06-27-2008 09:04 AM

$46 painted is not a bad price. I lost a tow hook cap off my M3 and it was close to that price unpainted.

Ok I tried to call the dealership and explain this to the parts guy. He said I had to come in and show him the part because he didn't understand which part I was talking about.

I was pretty descriptive too... What exactly is the name of this cover?

ratha67 06-27-2008 12:33 PM

I needed this part too, I just called the parts department this morning and described the part for them. He called it a color matched headlight washer cover. I have the same question as the guy above. If I don't have the headlight washers, will this thing clip into place or do I need to glue it or use double sided tape. If so, will glue or tape hold well?

deyainrdy4ds 06-27-2008 01:33 PM

its called the headlight washer cover...ill see if i can find the part numbers somewhere for you...jus explain to him that its the lil plastic peice that covers the nozzle for the headlight washers

i have the new projectors and they didnt have the bracket for the headlight washers and i didnt bother makin the brackets....soo i jus ended up usin 3m double sided sht to put them on to cover the holes on the bumper...

CLK FAN 06-27-2008 02:42 PM

use black duct tape :rolf:

dcp-m3 06-27-2008 02:53 PM

Black duct tape might be an option right now until I get the part...lol

I just got back from the dealership and I paid $54.00 for one pre-painted cover. Basically the guy had to come outside and write down my VIN number to get me the correct part.

ratha67 06-27-2008 03:21 PM

That VIN # crap that they pull pisses me off. My parts department always asks me my VIN even if I am just buying an air filter. You would think that they can do the search and figure it out with Year and Model, and would want to save themselves the trip out to the parking lot.. I understand if it is a part that might vary over the years in the same model, but come one... an air filter??

I gotta pick up some 3m double sided tape to put this cover on now. That was pretty pricey just to cover a couple holes. :nix:

dcp-m3 06-27-2008 03:30 PM

Wait this part doesn't have clips for mounting??

When I buy parts for my M3 they ask you what year and model and they are able to find what you are looking for.

MB parts dep. are generally not helpful (glad I found someone good).

All BMW parts dep. I've been to are easy to work with.

rjlawlor646 07-04-2008 01:23 PM

i had to get a new one too, i just went to a body shop and they ordered me one..costs $25

dcp-m3 07-07-2008 01:58 PM

How long does it take to get these ordered? A week?

deyainrdy4ds 07-07-2008 03:01 PM

took about 2-3 days for my dealer

dcp-m3 08-18-2008 12:58 PM

Now how do you get this cap on? Can I pull out the washer mechanism manually?

vizionclk430 08-18-2008 07:23 PM

I pulled mine with my hand and just clipped it up there and let it slide back and was done.

dcp-m3 08-18-2008 07:58 PM

I used needle nose pliers to pull it out and clip it. I couldn't fit my fingers into the hole and around the washer nozzles. :nix:

clk430convert01 08-18-2008 09:14 PM

The rear end on the benz looks meaner than the beemer but not true the other way around.

dcp-m3 08-19-2008 09:26 AM

The M3 has 285's in the rear and looks way more agressive than the CLK55
