What are the BEST SPARK PLUGS FOR CLK430 2002

Hey,

What are the BEST SPARK PLUGS FOR CLK430 2002?

Thanks
Steve

I replaced mine with the NGK ones. You can do a search and find them. DO NOT us the multi prong ones like Bosch offers.

What is wrong with the multi-prong Bosch? Reason is that I just put them in this weekend and they seem to be great.

multi prong meaning the ones with four tips on top? i replaced my spark plugs with bosch iridiums and they are perfectly fine.

sick430 07-07-2008 07:56 PM

There is nothing technically wrong with them, however our cars are engineered differently (dual plug) so there is no need to spend the extra money. Also although the dealers tell you to buy the Bosch ones, a lot of the 55 cars have come from Germany with NGK's.

OEM

babyboigsxr 07-08-2008 12:31 AM

I agree with the rest of the guys.

Go with either NGK IRIDIUMS or DENSO IRIDIUMS

you can't go wrong with those. :y

I tried to find the OEM (Bosch) that came with the car when it was new and they are no longer manufactured - according to the Bosch website. Dealer suggested Bosch Iridiums. They were only something like $16 for all 16 at the local Autozone. I can honestly say that the car runs great. I guess there is no 'best' plug to use.

I just bought and had mine replaced with OEM single platinum Bosch. These are still manufactured and can be found on many autoparts websites. I believe Bosch/MB have switched to resistor plugs for the Bosch application (plugs from the factory were the non-resistor type)....

Google the term "Degree a spark plug". It's and old method of more completely burning fuel in a combustion chamber. It's impossible to degree a multi-electrode plug. Even worse, each side electrode is a flame impediment. The average Joe will never notice the difference, but they are less efficient.

listen to Marcus, he knows what he's talking about!

khirinar 07-08-2008 04:15 PM

Chem1441, you are right. I stand corrected. The OEM is available online. It's strange that I could not find them when I searched 3-4 months ago.
Thanks for clarifying that.
Steve

All you guys have Gixxers, while the rest of us are dying in the bumper to bumper commute.

$16 for 16 plugs? That doesn't sound right. Were they on clearance??? What model Bosch is it?

You should try to stay away from Bosch.

If you wanna buy Denso's or NGK's for cheap. go here... www.sparkplugs.com

Especially if you need 12 or 16, the price will be even cheaper.

ZEEK 07-09-2008 01:45 PM

they are never $16 for all 16 lol unless that autozone is going out of business, i bought my 12 plugs for 16 bucks each.

Yeh, that's what I was thinking...I was about to run out and get a new set if they were only a buck each.

Hey, when should we change our spark plugs anyways? Is it easy to DIY? How much are spark plugs? Maybe that will be the next project.

I dunno, maybe somehow my gas mileage is good because I'm not firing on all cylinders. :nix:

BTW...I've had a couple Gixxer 1000's in the past too. A couple nights in ICU and the wife says she'll leave me if I bring home another crotch rocket... Maybe she won't mind a cruiser. I do miss the gas mileage, and lane splitting through traffic.

babyboigsxr 07-09-2008 05:17 PM

I PAID $9 EACH for the DENSO IRIDIUMS!!! :rolf:

deyainrdy4ds 08-12-2009 12:40 PM

Do NGK IRIDIUMS or DENSO IRIDIUMS lower mpg at all?

and whats wrong with the bosch

sry to bump up an old thread lol

Is there any advantage to Platinum vs Iridium? Why is Denso's Iridium more expensive than its platinum, but NGK is the other way around?

verdugoramon 11-15-2016 05:12 AM

NGK iridiums or DENSO...
