Emissions Test
 

My CEL light came on this spring. The problem was the MAF. This was replaced and the light subsequently went out. It is now time for the state emissions test. Do I need to have anything reset prior to this test? Or does the system clear itself with time?

in my state you only need fifty miles with out cel coming on before the test.

If there is no light, you're probably good. Last smog check I had...My check engine came on, on the way to the smog check station. My smog station ran the code and discovered it was my MAF sensor. I cleaned the MAF and after clearing the code (disconnected the negative battery terminal), I took it immediately to the smog station. My smog guy said it wasn't ready and to drive it about 40 miles and come back. I drove it 40 miles and came back, he hooked it up again and said there was still missing data, and to drive it another 40 miles. I did that....and same thing happened. Then after the next 40 miles, finally the ECU had the necessary data to perform the smog check. I guess 1 cycle for the Mercedes can range from 40-120 miles.

Since you did this awhile ago, you should be good. If you are afraid that there is still a code stored that will hurt you on the smog check, you can reset it and make sure you drive awhile before getting it smogged.
