Bleeding to Death

Well I replaced the rotors pads and brake lines this week with Brembo drilled rotors, Akebono pads, and stainless lines. All went well until bleeding the brakes, I have done it a few times in the past but now every time I finish I step on he brake and the peddle goes to the floor and the car barely slows down. I have checked for air bubbles a coupe of times, and searched the forum up and down and still nothing. Any information on how to bleed the brakes on a w208 is much appreciated, rumor has it that i need to bleed the abs????

The only thing I did after changing my brakes and rotors was.....take off the cap to the brake fluid, you or someone else push the brake peddle all the way to the floor, then put the cap back on.

Should be ok...

The Akebono pads have less bite that OEM pads, but it sounds like you have air in the lines. Bleeding the brakes on a CLK is the same as any other vehicle. Are you using
  1. A pressure bleeder?
  2. The two man method (one pushes the pedal while the other closes the valve before the pedal is allowed to raise)?
  3. The one man pedal method (where the valve is attached to a line that’s submerged in brake fluid)?
  4. Some other method?
Whatever method you use, you may want to ensure air isn’t getting past the threads on the bleeder valve. I do that by cracking the valve open as little as possible to get the job done. I prefer using my pressure bleeder (a CLK requires 2 bar of pressure), with method #3 as an alternative. Methods #2 and #3 can be hard on the seals in the master cylinder. Above all else, the system must be leak free. Nothing is damp is it? I'd pay special attention to those new lines.

Thanks for the input guys, I will post the results tomorrow. FYI Marcus I had been using a bleeder bottle filled with brake fluid while my wife pressed the peddle down approx. three inches repeditively and i closed off the valve once i made sure that all of the bubbles had come out. What i hadn't done is press and hold the brake down when i put the cap back on the resevior. I am not sure if this was the problem but I will be sure to try it tomorrow.

I'm using goodridge lines that i bought from tirerack.com. I spent a few hours this weekend checking the lines and there connection, bled them several times, and there is a little progress but it still isn't where i want it to be. I did'nt replace the rear pads when i did the install so i will be doing that this week again with akebonos (everyone seems to think well of them). So hopefully that will make a difference otherwise I will probably head down to the stealership.

Not everyone, but if you're happy with them, that's all that counts.
