Widest tyre sizes for 19's

Hi guys.

I need some info (I have searched but come up with nothing).

I've been really unlucky these past two months and picked up THREE punctures (two in the passenger front/driver to you and one in the right rear). Anyway I bought a pair of tyres to make the fronts match and now one is holed right on the inner edge. Roadside assistance has tried plugging it but it still leaks. I don't have the funds for a new tyre seeing as I've just splashed out, but I know a shop that does slightly worn tyres.

My question is, will 255/30/19 fit the fronts?

That's all that's available in my wheel size. My car is lowered by around 1.5in in the front with Bilstein shocks and Eibach springs.

Ps, I normally run 235/35/19 without spacers.

it all depends on the offset and how dropped it is (with or without pads)
u might need to roll the fender with 255

Thanks Mike.

I don't know what offset I've got. I've got my pads in (number 4 I think -17mm thickness). My arches have a slight roll to them because the left front of my car keeps rubbing at speed over heavy bumps. I like the look so I don't want to roll them futher. I'll keep saving and topping the air up every 2-3 days.

Paujay,

How did you figure out what pad number/thickness you have on your car? Did you take it off your car to find out or is there another way to figure it out?

Thanks

Hi Aaron68.

Marcus, I think put a post up of pad sizes with part numbers.

When my left front rubbed after lowering I had my garage take out the pads to see how many dots were on top of the pad to work out the pad thickness. I had 2 dots so I went up 2 more sizes in order to try to stop the left side rubbing on hard bumps (it still does it but only at speed 60-70mph).

Here's the list:

210 321 0184 = 5mm

210 321 0284 = 9mm

210 321 0384 = 13mm

210 321 0484 = 17mm

210 321 0584 = 21mm

Thanks again Marcus if it was you.

Ps, the '210' signifies that it is a W210 E Class part, but it fits our cars!

300E a couple 1994 w124wagon E320 Wagon/,1971MGB Track/Rally, MG Midget Autocross ,2000 E320 wagon.
About 3/4 inch wider

and the different profile will make the tire shorter. So you must be aware that the different rpm of the front tires in relation to the rears may be off by enough % to cause abs and cruise control issues. With the 255 if it fit(probably not) it would be spinning about 16 revs per mile more than the rears are turning.

Thanks ohlord.

Are you certain about the tyre being shorter?

I ask this because the tyre fitter also had a 255/35/19 tyre which he offered up to my arches. That particular size was taller than my 235/35/19 and looked like it would rub when the steering was turned, which is why he said the other will fit. I really should have got him to size it up also.

My line of thought was that the tyre would only be 1cm wider either side of the rim, meaning it should fit.
