BRIGHT WHITE lights... which ones are good?

Hey guys,

I have my Stock bulbs in my CLK right now. I want to get new bulb that give off the effect of the BRIGHT-WHITE bulbs. Sometimes they even look blue. Can you guys recommend which bulbs are good? Is it pretty easy to replace all the bulbs? Is it recommended to replace ALL the bulbs? (Fogs, highbeams.. etc)
thx guys

I've always been leary of aftermarket bulbs in Mercedes-Benzes. The resistance of some of the bulbs may be higher than the stock bulbs, which frequently set "Lamp Defective" warning lights, even if the bulb works fine.

Lightbulb

I used PIAA Xtreme White's they look very nice. They look very blue compared to the dull yellowish center lights. I purchased my bulbs from nextcollection.com. They are a little expensive though. ($130.00) I think it was worth it.

Are you referring to bulbs for fogs and center lamps, to match your HID (Xenon) lowbeams, or bulbs for the headlamps themselves to emulate the HID look?

If it is the latter, I wanted to get similar headlamp intensity (or as close as possible) on my non-HID lamped SL as on my HID equipped CLK without resorting to changing the entire headlamp bucket assembly. I ended up getting some PIAA Platinum series 65/45 Super Whites (perform like 110/85 halogens), and while not HIDs they are a vast improvement.

I haven't checked the CLK applications, but you may be able to use the even whiter PIAAs (Super Blue?) there. As far as the lamp monitors, I've had no problem with false outage reports etc.

Check ebay for the best prices.

Hope this helps,

Paul

I changed out my inner lights, high beams and fog lights with the bulbs they sell at autowerksexpress.com... they look good and I haven't had any problems.

Cool

I bought a set from HIPER, 2 years ago and to date have had no problems. They are bright white with a slight blue hue when seen from the side.

I elected to go with their 80 watt set over the 55 w. They are brighter due to the extra wattage, but I have never been FLASHED by oncoming cars. (and, no, it does not set off the malfunction light)

Oh, yea---- they cost about $39 a set for the H7 80 watt.

PIAA Xtreme whites

I switch the stock h7 low beams with the PIAA Xtreme Whites. They are definetely an improvement from the stock bulbs, both in terms of brightness, and colour (its a very bright white with a hint of blue). I've tried other brands and although they have the look of HID blue lights, they are almost useless in rainy dark conditions, especially those ones made in Korea.

I didn't bother to change the high beams or fog lights for several reasons:

1. You hardly use the high beams (plus the bulbs are not cheap)
2. You preserve the look of factory HIDs (i.e. HIDs are not used in the high beams or fog lights)
3. I actually like the contrast of the white lights next to the almost champagne gold parking lights.
