Alternator Brushes, need to buy some, where??

Hi Guys

I got in my car today and I got without warning a battery/alternator error on my dash, which has not come up before. I stopped for petrol and then got back in to find the car dead !
SO I got a jump start and managed to limp home. I checked the battery with a spare I have, it was fine.! So it must have been the alternator I thought. When I took the brushes off I saw that they were very short and im sure its the reason the battery was not charging as they are worn out.

Are the brushes (see picture) a main dealer part do you think., im in Glasgow where would anyone suggest>? Euro Car parts?

Thanks in advance.

As you already know, it's an easy fix. In the US, it's available all over the place. It's $25 at aftermarket places, $75 at Internet MB dealers, and has a dealer list price of $105. Naturally, those are all US prices.

sturggled to find a place in the UK that does after market. The dealer want £70 !

Has anyone ever just replaced the worn out brushes? I bought some from a hardware shop today and im going to solder them in tonight and see.

All fixed now. Got some drill brushes filed them down a bit to fit, removed old brushes and soldered new drill brushes into the voltage regulator, voila! Saved £70.
