w208 CLK430 swap with w211 E500
Hey guys I just swapped my 430 engine from my CLK to a 500 engine from an E-class. Very easy swap, kinda like plug & play. However I am having these fuel trim malfunction for Bank 1 & Bank 2 as well as Catalyst failure. But the Catalyst failure codes are due to the hallowed catalytic converters I believe. Everything is working fine except sometimes it feels like it wants to stall, but never does. I was hoping some people could give me some ideas on what possible solutions I have. I am getting a new Maxflo Exhaust & Kleemann ECU tune this weekend, hoping that will help and provide great power out of the 500 engine. Any advise would be great. Will definitely post updates after tuning and exhaust are installed.

Hi there.
Well done on your swap!
When I swapped to a 55AMG engine I still used my 430 ECU. This had fuelling issues a bit like what your having because the car still thought it was a 430.
Tuning is what's needed. Did you swap over the fuel rail and injectors too?
Someone that understands Bosch coding or a good tuner is preferable.
I ended up ordering a custom ECU from Mecedes which was expensive!
Good luck with your next stage! As you know now, you need to change the exhaust, upgrade the brakes and suspension too!

Thank you for shedding some light on my problem.
I was going to do a 55AMG swap but I wasn't too sure if the ECU would be compatible like it was for the 500 engine. So I contacted Kleemann for an ECU upgrade as well wanted to get headers, but they don't have the headers yet that will correctly fit. So I'm getting the Maxflo and Tune from Fabspeed to hopefully correct the problem. But yeah the engine swap was very easy and started the first time.
Now if you don't mind why did you need to have a custom ECU from mercedes? Didn't the tune correct your problem.

I did my swap 4yrs ago. In the UK we're only just seeing the N/A 55AMG swap but on C43s! No-one knew anything about what was compatable back then so I was the 1st one to do it!
Once swapped everything mechanical worked but the electrical side had issues. I finally bit the bullet and took my car to my MB dealer when all the tuners couldn't fix it. MB ordered my ECU after diagnosing the problem.

If your O2 sensors are not getting a good reading then your fuel trim is going to be off. You swapped a motor so I am guessing you know what an O2 sensor does.

Thanks for that... yeah i read o2 sensor will be out thats last of my worries... im wanting to know anyone knows i can put a e500 engine and tranmission in and be as simple or close to as just the e500 engine swap thanks?

I know this is an ancient thread but . . . . . . . . . . .
The answer is, 'depends'. If you have a 2001 or later CLK430, the ECU is ME 2.8. The M113 powered E500 ran ME 2.8 as well. Those later CLK430s have the same higher flow injectors and the same throttle body as the 500 originally came with. 1999 and 2000 CLK430s had lower flow injectors and a smaller TB. Also, the 2001 and later CLK430s came with a 722.632 transmission, the 1999 CLK430 has a 722.623 and I don't remember which one was put in the 2000 CLK430. The E500 had a 722.633 and I have no idea what the difference is. It may bolt right in and go.
Speaking of bolt right in, doesn't the E500 have a different oil pan and oil pump? An oil pan that won't bolt into a W208 chassis? The W208 pan will bolt to the 500 engine block, but doesn't the oil pump then have to be changed because of the rear pickup tube? Don't you have to buy a new pump (part #1131811201) or get a used one (part #1131802501) and then swap the pickup with the original 430 pump?
I thought Just_Is went through this on his swap. To be very clear, are you guys from the 2012 thread saying the W211 E500 M113 simply bolts in to a W208 chassis? No oil pump or oil pan issues?
