CLK430 Seats.
Neither seat switch works in the backwards direction. Push it back and the seats go forward! My question is this:
What are the odds that both switches are bad? Should I look elsewhere for the solution?

I recommend lubing up the tracks. I had the same issue. WD-40 and tapping the motor with a rubber mallet got mine working properly.

I think people are misunderstanding this. The seats move in all directions fine. It just doesn't go the way the switch is pushed. It's not fuses, it's not the motor. I just want to know if it's the switches or the seat module??

My passenger seat had the same problem. When the switch was pushed to move back, the seat moved forward. I had dirty seat tracks. I cleaned and lubricated the seat tracks and gave the motor a few love taps with a rubber mallet. It's the cheapest option and what I would try first.

Seat Switches
I hear you - I think it could be the switches since you ruled out the other possibilities.
And - I had this happen to a CLK 320 I had. When I pressed the button to move forward, it actually moved backward, and other directions were working strangely.
So..I researched this on these websites and found a guy who said the switches can get dirty and cause issues...he recommended just tapping it gently with some force...and seeing it it helped.
Well...for me, it did! Fixed my issue right away.
I don't think your issue would be the module, because if it was, the memory buttons would probably make the seat move in weird directions as well.
Try this and let us know.
If this doesn't work, a more thorough option is to remove the switches and clean the metal contacts inside.

This has occurred in the past when the controller can no longer determine the seat's position. In those cases, moving the seat all the way forward allowed the controller to re-establish positioning. Afterwards, the switches worked fine.

Fixed.
Fixed this issue. Turns out, it was corrosion on the electronic board that was bridging some of the solder points. Took it apart, cleaned up all the corrosion, and now it works as intended. Apparently, this car had the top down in the rain a few times!!!
