Quick Request- Clk 430 Window etchings

All, with 430's- would anyone weigh in with a small favor?

Check our your clk 430 driver and passenger windows and let me know - do they appear somewhat different in color?

430 windows

Thanks Marcus.

I'm perplexed because mine look slightly different (driver side looks slightly blue/green, passenger looks more blue) ..so I found another one at a junk yard...and it also looks different (Validated it's from a 430 and the vin indicated blue windows but it kinda looks a little green)

So...I can't figure this out!

Has the blue/green one ever been replaced? They might have replaced it with the glass meant for a 320 or perhaps it's 430 glass but replaced years later so the tint has faded to different shades.

The color is the same on all of my windows (except the windshield obviously) 2000 CLK 430

It could have been replaced.

But...That's why I got another one from a junk yard. I validated the one from the junk yard was a clk 430 too...when I got it...also looks like the blue/green one that I thought could have been replaced on my car.

And to double validate...I called mercedes and gave them the junk yard vin. They said it had blue windows too. But it looks blue/green.

You sure both your passenger and driver side are exactly the same color?

(Ps I don't think the tint could fade because it's actually built into the glass when it's made)

Quick request - Window etching numbers

All - huge quick favor - would you tell me the window etching numbers on your driver and passenger side clk 430 windows?

It should be something like "sigla "m3439 dot25." (And some other numbers but the "m" and "dot" are most useful I think)

This will identify whether my car does have two types. I could use your help!

The DOT number indicates who manufactured the glass. For example, with the exception of the rear windshield, all the glass in my 2002 was manufactured by Pilkington and the DOT number is 682. If your DOT number is 25, then the window was made by Flachglas. My rear windshield was made by Flachglas

The M number is the model number, which is not to be confused with the Mercedes-Benz part number. Model numbers are manufacturer specific, so giving you the Pilkington model number of my side glass won't tell you anything about your Flachglas window. You can tell if your car has mismatch glass by looking at the first set of numbers on both windows. I believe they should match. If not, then one side may not have been installed at the same time as the other.

Yea, I have a driver side Pilkington and passenger is Sigla (also known as Flachglas I believe) I think the driver side was replaced a long time ago.

The M number will actually tell me manuf. specific model AND the color tint of the glass...as can be found in AMECA, but it's been hard for me to obtain the 2000/2001 booklet for validation.

I should be fine having the Pilkington as a replacement, so long as the color tints are the same (at least similar..meaning blue for my car...I think most/all 430s came with blue tint glass?)

If you would tell me your full M number for your Pilkington(s) driver and passenger windows and it matches with my driver Pilkington, it may help me identify if the colors on mine.

For example, my Pilkington M number is 3240.

Put tint on them, then you won't notice anything. Every car looks better with tint anyway. My first stop with any new car purchase is the tint shop.

Guys...I never closed this out on here - the window I had was wrong. I found one from a junk yard (via ebay) and easily replaced it. (Blue tint) super cheap window too.

E350 Cabrio
Hi All, been following this thread with great interest. Sunday last dropped the roof on my E350 Cabrio without issue. On returning home 20:00 and cold the roof did not fully close. Tries a few times to no avail. So drove to local fuel station to see if I could locate the issue, something in the trunk that was inhibiting the closure, but no. After numerous attempts decided to drive home 90mins with the roof down and investigate on my drive. So, fault located to microswitch damaged "S84/22 Soft top compartment cover in catch position limit switch ". left roof partially closed and ordered 2 off replacement microswitches. Studied Youtube for info on manually closing/opening roof. Managed to get roof compartment open after releasing hydraulic pressure at the pump. following the video, next was to locate two strut "locking mechanisms and turn 90 degrees anti clockwise" here I was unable to pull out the mechanism and rotate??? OK, replaced both microswitches, and refitted roof as per video. Powered up the car..... Pulled the roof switch, windows down, good sign, I can hear the pump running, Nothing else.???
Roof leave down, same....nothing...Any ideas please.
Also, tried to open the roof compartment with the two straps, and now this wont open either?? so at least the roof is closed and its raining hard.
