Helping thread! NeW208 suggest advice locks PSE / top issues, etc

Feel free to post problems and respond to help those who need it.

Get some pros helping some newer ppls.

My big one is PSE vacuum motor I can not here it running at all and my doors won't physically lock not on key fob nor in the cars center dash button. I believe it needs to be replaced or there is a leak, my head rests and seats move though same with roll bar in rear seats. All I hear is a single click when I hit the key fob. From pse unit in trunk.

>>> any other suggestions + for typical expected preventive maintenances
+ technique for repairs
recommened by those who have history owning or working on these w208 clk 320 , 430 , AMG 55 )

Example I've heard about..
coolant leaking into transmission.
does anyone know about how this happens?

Automatic transmission fluid is cooled by passing through the radiator. The same radiator used for engine coolant. The radiator is compartmentalized so the coolant and the transmission fluid are kept separate. Through normal wear (and in some cases bad design - just Google W209 or W211 and Valeo) the radiator develops an internal leak. Aside from the reduced lubrication, antifreeze has been known to delaminate clutches, so a transmission rebuild is typically in order when antifreeze passes through one. A Behr radiator retails for about $240 and mine took me a couple of hours to replace.

w208 most likely wont have the faulty valeo if they were made before 2000 I didn't see many other models than w203 or w202, w209 and w211 that were listed in the recall. I have been told by someone that their 1999 model had the coolant ruin his transmission before I researched the issues.

W208’s won’t have faulty Valeo radiators regardless of year. The faulty design was for the early W209 and W211 Valeo radiators.

As for a 1999 radiator failing, any radiator could fail, but that doesn’t point to a bad design. Not changing the coolant at regular intervals can cause a radiator to fail.
