Clk 500
Clk 320 swapped to 500

Dears ,

I did a full swap from my clk 320 v6 to a 500 v8.

i have changed everything and the car runs smooth but the issue is i have
the 2.87 differential out of a 430 . every once in a while it malfucnctions and i have changed 3 already . Today i have bought a clk 55 differential that is compatible with the e430 also . i wanted to check if its compatible with my car eventho its nut is bigger than the one installed atm. i took the diff with its axles and tomorrow i will try to install them.

Did anyone try this before , does it physically applicable and will i get any limp modes ? since my egs is not programmable ....

please advise if you have knowledge in diff's and ratios.

how often does it go into limp mode? i believe you need the same diff ratio as the car that the 500 V8 came out of (assuming you are using the 500 ECU??)

I am putting a 430 in my SLK230, and will probably have the same issue.

Star Diagnostic / xentry has an option under the motor window (coding adaptations) where a whole option of diff ratios can be selected to prevent limp mode
