Dean Pickup

Hi guys I'm new to the forum so forgive me if this has been asked befor . The other day I had to apply my breaks quite hard and in doing so noticed the steering wheel move forward. I checked the ajustustment lever and it was locked in place. The steering wheel is moving backwards and forwards freely and the adjustment lever will not lock it. Any help would be great guys
