Angry Fuel pump noise

After a long overdue replacement of my fuel filter, a day later my fuel pump started making a high pitched hum. Is this related, or just a coincidence? Should I replace the pump? I have a long trip coming up soon.

That is exactly the noise! I used an off brand no name replacement. That’ll learn me for being cheap. So a genuine Mercedes filter solved the problem? Just wondering if I can make a long trip before I do that because time is tight.

Nice one to keep in my back pocket. I wouldn't say you need to purchase Mercedes brand stuff, they don't make it themselves after all. What you need to buy is the same brand Mercedes uses to rebrand. I'd been using Mann filters for some time on my old Porsche and figured I'd carry the same thing over to the CLK when I got it recently, I've had very good success with them always. Having recently replaced the fuel filter, the video you shared was very familiar. The car has a fuel filter that had a 2005 date code on it, so yeah, long overdue.
