Actron OBDII reader
Just tried out my new Actron OBDII reader on my 99 clk. I had a check engine light coming on and off. I finally hooked this bad boy up and it told me I have a malfunction in my fuel mixture system. I looked up the code in more detail and it is most likely my O2 sensor, which is notorious for these cars. At least I saved that money and now all I have to do is shop it arround to some of the dealers to see who will hook me up with the best deal to change that part out.
Thought I would share... |
O2 sensor failures are far from notorious on any MB. If it's a bad O2 sensor, you'll usually get a code for a malfunctioning sensor heater. A fuel-mixture code is more indicative of a bad mass-airflow sensor.

I stand corrected the code is P0170 Fuel Trim Malfunction Bank 1 and P0173 Fuel Trim Malfunction Bank 2. Would this be indicative of the Oxygen sensor going out?

so time for the dealer to bend me over!!! Any words of advice before I take it in?

Originally posted by mbtech208 No, those would be the fuel trim codes I was referring to. Fuel trim and fuel mixture are almost the same. Fuel trim is the computer's way of making minor adjustments to the fuel mixture for the current driving conditions. |
Make sure you replace the air filter too, it could lead to mass-airflow sensor failure.

Well... I had my check engine light coming on and off. Took it to the dealer and it was the mass-airflow sensor. Before bending over to them... a friend told me to clean the sensor with carburator cleaner (spray can) and I did then I used a compressed air can to dry it up good. After a day driving the car the light went off for good....I did this 2 months ago and the light still off. Don't know if the trick did it or the buld for the check engine light went out LOL....Hope it helps:D

Nope I dont, I was told it wont make a big difference on the V6

I just bought a Actron CP9670, and using it for the first time. It recognizes my car, 2007 Mercedes SL550, and the next page has a bunch of codes to choose from, like: (ME97)/ARMADA etc, (ME272)/ARMIN
Does anyone know what these mean and how to select the right one to choose? Thanks, Brian A. |
