New Classic Toy 2002 CLK430 - MIA Auxiliary Port?

Just added an extremely well kept Cali/AZ life 2002 CLK430 Convertible to my mini fleet.

Every single thing works perfectly, and I have the Bose + Command Navigation + Trunk mounted Benz CD changer. All works.

But, unlike all the posts here, and elsewhere stating if you have Command Nav, there’s also an auxiliary jack in the glove box, I’ve searched and can’t find anything.

Yet, too, can easily switch to Aux on the screen, active and ready. And my CD button flips to “CD or CD changer.”

Since I clearly have Aux function, where might the port be if I can’t find it?

The auxiliary port availability in your 2002 CLK 430 depends on whether your vehicle has the COMAND system installed. If your CLK has the COMAND navigation system, there would be an auxiliary input located in the glove box [MBWorld.org Forums](https://mbworld.org/forums/clk55-amg...clk-430-a.html) . This was confirmed in a Mercedes forum discussion specifically about the 2002 CLK 430 with Bose sound system.

The auxiliary input on Mercedes vehicles with COMAND 2.0 is typically a 3.5mm socket located on the side of the glove box (on the door side) near the front [MBClub UK](https://forums.mbclub.co.uk/threads/...-input.184413/) . However, not all CLK models came standard with the COMAND system.

According to Edmunds, the COMAND system (Cockpit Management and Data) was an optional feature on the 2002 CLK-Class, not standard equipment [Edmunds](https://www.edmunds.com/mercedes-ben...s/2002/review/) . This system integrated radio, navigation, telephone, and trip-computer functions into one unit with a dash-mounted screen.

It's worth noting that 2002 was a transition year when Mercedes released their second generation COMAND system, called COMAND APS NTG, which replaced the earlier D2B optical network with a MOST bus [Mura Car Accessories](https://mca.electricmura.ro/en/blog-...-what-version/) .

If your vehicle doesn't have the COMAND system, it would not have come with a factory auxiliary input in the glove box. Without the COMAND system, you would need aftermarket adapters to add auxiliary input functionality to the factory audio system [JustAnswer](https://www.justanswer.com/car-elect...nvertible.html) .

To determine whether your specific CLK 430 has the COMAND system, check for a navigation screen in your dashboard. If you have COMAND, you can look for the auxiliary port in your glove box along the side closest to the door.

Thanks. I absolutely have Command screen, Navigation and the CD changer, too, and Aux on the screen, but simply cannot find the port.

Not visible like everyone else’s seems to be. Will try to take the glove box apart, and dig deeper.

Verdict is in. Fully loaded Command Nav, Bose, CD changer 2002 CLK430. No port or extra wiring anywhere. Finally got the glovebox apart.

Aux is on the Command screen but there is none, in my car. Guess there’s no way, unless there’s a missing plug in spot somewhere else, for an add on hardness, like in the next gen?
