Car Won't Start
I went to pull my car into the garage tonight, and it wouldn't start. I haven't really ever had any problems with the car and have about 43k miles on it. Hopefully it's just the battery and I'll be able to jump it in the morning, because it would definitely be painful to have to tow it.

Can you hear the "motor" sound after putting the key in the ignition? or
Does the car wont start with keyless go? or You can hear the "motor" sound but the car just wont start? |
I don't have keyless go. The motor just won't turn over at all - there's maybe a 0.1 sec sound from the engine compartment but that's it. I haven't tried to jumpstart it yet, and hopefully that will get it going.

Phew, it was just the battery and started with a jump. Anybody got recommendations for a new battery?

My build date was July/Aug 2002, so I guess at least it makes sense and is still under warranty
FRANKFURT, March 31, 2005; Reuters reported that U.S.-German carmaker DaimlerChrysler is recalling 1.3 million Mercedes cars of several model ranges worldwide to fix problems with alternators and batteries, it said in a statement on Thursday. On vehicles with six and eight-cylinder petrol engines built between June 2001 and Nov. 2004, the voltage regulator in the alternator is being checked and if necessary replaced, Daimler said. On E-class and CLS-class models made from Jan. 2002 to Jan. 2005, new battery control software is to be installed. In addition the braking system on the current E-class, SL-class and CLS-class models made since June 2001 are also to be updated, it said. |

Good Morning Harris - I'm going to take it in on Monday morning I guess. I'm also having some sort of issue with the transmission that needs to get fixed too - it jerks slightly when at constant low throttle and occasionally seems to grind slightly. I'm guessing it's the problem with the coolant fluid leaking into the transmission fluid that other people in the forum have had and that they will need to replace the torque converter.

id assume the whole trans would have to be changed or rebuilt if coolant was mixing with the trans fluid.
|
Yeah I have no idea what the problem really is - sounds like they're going to have the car several days at best regardless. I guess I'll go put my Brabus wheels back on - I had to put on one of them the other day after I picked up a nail in the parking lot at work and haven't taken it off yet. I'd feel better if I didn't have my rims sitting in the dealer parking lot for a couple days/nights if they move it out there while they are waiting for parts.
