Next Generation CLK

I know there's a threat on this already but I haven't heard anything in a while .... The M and S classes just got redone and the CL and C are up next .... I've seen the facelifted CLK and wasn't blown away (although there were some nice improvements) ... I've got a first-run 2003 CLK500 and will probably hold out for the next CLK ...

At this point, what do we know about the next generation CLKs? Will US customers be able to get some of those hot "avant-garde" leather and suede trim options I've seen on the overseas models?

Are there any pictures floating around? ANY information on what's changing?

Heeyyyyllllp!

CLK55 AMG 2006 Cabrio, BMW M3 2008 DTC Cab new (M3 e46 SMG 2003 Cabrio Sold), BMW X5 tt Diesel 2008
Hi,

There has been a lot of talk that about the middle to the end of next year the new 6.3 motor is going into the current CLK55 AMG. I spoke to the production supervisor for MB last week here in Australia and asked him if that was true, he confirmed that the new motor was going in and Australia would hopefully get them by the end of 2006.

So that would put the new model CLK being produced in 2008-2009 I would say.

Even though the CLK gets a detuned version of the 6.3 @ anything more than 400 hp (I've heard +/-470) the CLK with its relatively light weight (as compared to the other Benzes) will be a rocket! I've got to imagine the W209 with the new much more powerful 6.3 will just kill the resale of the 5.4 CLK55's. In order for MB to help the current 209 55ers, it should wait and put the new motor in the new body style.

CLK 200 KOMPRESSOR Elegance
I think the current shape WILL definitely see the 6.3 motor. This fits in with what MB always does. The fit new engines into older bodies to iron out any issues before the "new" shape car arrives !

There are photos of the new "C" on the germancarfans website http://www.germancarfans.com/spyphot...id/6051214.002

...........I reckon there will be similarities !

Up in the E55 forum someone posted numbers of 482. That is gonna be one flippin fast clk. Might even give the E63 a run for it's money, they are gonna only have around 40 more horsepower (515) if this is true.

Great......my luck they will definitely put the new engine in the W209 body style. They really know how to kill resale!

I'm still not too happy about this new engine having less torque. If I'm thinking correctly, wouldn't this new engine be better at top end where the supercharged 5.5 engines are better with low end torque. I always thought you wanted more torque than horsepower?

Up to a point but the kompressor 55's have plenty of traction issues as it is.

The CLK 55 never got the kompressor engine so this is a BIG plus for the CLK55 no matter how you look at it.
