Well I have had my CLK 6 years now - its a W209 CLK240 - lovely car. But this year it started shaking from the gearbox when you put teh car in drive and put your foot on the brake pedal. Never used to do it - took it to Merc 5 times - they kept saying that they couldnt find anything wrong. Finnally took it in again and they took a transmission fluid sample - sent it to MB HQ and then got a call saying they have to replace the torque converter, gearbox and radiator as some fluid had leaked into teh gearbox!! SO, get this all replaced under warrenty and the first two days great - THEN start getting the shaking again!! The car is back into Merc for a week while they investigate - prob is they have no idea what to do or say - my warrenty ends 3rd August so I have sadi to them I dont want the car back with the shaking and them saying they cant find anything! I will not accept the car back until its fixed! But as they have no idea where to start I was wondering if anyoen here has had this problem? BTW the car has only done 80K miles - im shocked it needed a new Gearbox - my C36 has done 144K miles and still going strong - what the hell is up with Merc these days hey! Oh and the day I took the CLK back into Merc, the waterpump started screeling bad. They are replacing that under warrenty too

well my car is fixed now MB dealer did the following - replaced Waterpump as that was screeling like a *****, put on new anto roll bar at rear and went into ECU and upped the rev as it was idling too low - hence the shaking! weird. Other than that the new gear box, torque converter and rad are ok. so well see how she is now for a while - prob is my warrenty runs out in 2 weeks!! so lets hope any other probs happen NOW

Hey man I would be careful, I had the same thing happen to my 02 c32. Turns out coolant from the radiator got into the tranny, MB service reccomendation....8000.00 new transmission Then I bought the car I drive now a 03 clk500 Then one day guess what? The same shutter in the tranny as in the c32 So since the clk was out of warranty I had to put a new transmission in it So anyway if your warranty is up in two weeks I would be careful....

hi mate,

Well only 2 weeks ago they changed the tranny, torque converter and rad - all under warrenty. the shaking has now stopped - ecu remap apparently! all great now.

how could you have a 209 for six years? 209's were released in 2003.

the 209 came out in may 2002

maybe he got it a little early in another country?? in 2000 the w208 was fairly new

Hi all, in answer to your question I got my car August 2002. It was the first of the new shape w209 CLK's on a '52' plate. Us EURO members get our cars before US hence why your car came out 2003. I was one of teh first in the UK to order my CLK. I tend to want the new model straight away so that I dont buy a car only to find 3 years later a new model is out - must admit im abit peeved MB now do a SPORT setup CLK - when I ordered there was only Elegance and Avantgarde - the SPORT setup has the full AMG body kit , wheels and toys and just looks damn mean!! Just like a full AMG - wish theyd had that when I put down my order Oh well - at least I enjoyed my CLK 6 or so months before you US guys
