Extended Limited Warranty ????
Ordered clk 320 I keep my cars for a least ten years. This will be my first mercedes. Just wondering about the extended warranty is it
worth it or a waste of money. Never have bought extended warranty on my other cars. Let me know what you think???

Personally the extended warranty doesnt cover as much as you think it does. Well at least the one offered by Mercedes. Until I sold my 97 just recently, it had not given me any problems and it had almost 80,000 miles on it. Mercedes in general are built to last. If you are going to own the car the whole time, you would presumably keep the car well maintained. I personally think that the repairs will probably cost you a whole lot less than the cost of the extended warranty.
Unlike car insurance, the warranty liability is only limited to defects on the manufacturer's part or components that somehow go faulty. You should by the time the new car warranty expires in 4 years have hopefully got everything replaced and you will be all set to go.

If you keep your car a few years longer than the factory warranty then get it! I sold my 86 benz because they wanted $900 for a wiring harnes that rotted! Think, 
if the cars, overall, really lasted longer than the warranty then they would make it longer! (great marketing advantage!)

Charlesu - I'll bet if you read the fine print the "extended warranty" probably would not have covered the rotted wire harness. You would have probablly been told that this wasn't a defect and had to result from misuse or some such thing. It's an economic decision, but if you make a conscious effort to never buy an extended warranty on anything and simply deposit that money in a savings account you would probably come out ahead.
