clk 350 any new info?
Does anyone have any further info on the change from the 320 to the 350? Autospies is reporting that Mercededs will do the change as soon as they run out of 320 engines.

It would make sense. Other Manufact. are selling V-6's around 260-280 HP (Acura)(Inifiniti). MB needs to do this since the CLK is really 10 grand more than these. These pages have already posted internal memos about the up coming ML350.
Ask your dealer next time you talk to him. If he says no way, ask him about the release of the ML's with the larger 350(3.7 liter)
As for me, I'll roll the dice and wait until the spring.

i hope they change the engine few years later when the clk will be facelifted
i dont think they need to change the engine yet

maybe they will change it sometime later in 2005 or 2006

Autospies was the only reliable source of the intro date of the CLK. The new engine is coming in response to the the upgrade at Infiniti and the general HP proliferation. The 2003 CLK 320 will be a single year orphan. Frankly, given the 300 lb increase in W209 weight versus the W208, it needs it.

..........This has been discussed before. MB made a big mistake with the W209 CLK320. The car weighs more but retained a 215HP V6 which lowered its performance from a 0-60 time of 6.9 secs f0r the W208 CLK 320 to 7.4 secs for the w209 CKL 320. Although many MB buyers buy their cars for luxury rather than performance, such poor performance for a "sport coupe" places the car in very poor company. My understanding from MB dealers here in Atlanta is that people love the W209 CLK 500 but hate the W209 CLK 320. The switch from 320 to 350(a 245HP V6) is supposed to happen as soon as early next year when the current crop of W209 CLk 320's will have been sold out. This is not a suprise to anyone who follows cars closely. You should stay away from the first year of any model upgrade. The first year of the W208 CLK 320 was also a mess because of horrible exterior trim which was corrected a year later.

The new v6 honda accord outpowers and out performs the clk320 ... this is disgraceful !!! No way am I buying any mb with the 320 engine. I'm about to change my 208 clk 320 but I've had it for 3 years and when I got it it was competitive ..... definitely not anymore though
