how do i get rid of the MAINTENCE due in xx miles warning

i got my 60K maintence done at a private shop and i guess they didn't reset it, i'm in socal now and i got it done back in norcal, but is there a way to get rid of it, everytime i turn my car one it gives me the warning.

From what Ive been told, you have to get it hooked up to a STAR diagnostic machine. I could have been mislead, but I think I read it on the forums.

You should be able to do it without SDS. Do you have your manual? I don't know the process for the CLK's but it can be done on other models.
